Poor writing. I Stopped reading after the 1st paragraph.

Of course no one care if you have a Rolex (no one should, anyhow)

Kid is a joke.

Pick up artist? Double joke

Sometimes our accessories reflect the kind of adventures we choose to explore. It also reveals what we value. I view a Rolex as a Land Cruiser, not a Bentley.

Also, 4 of my Rolex watches were gifts. One from my parents, and 3 from a very generous brother. These items I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Why Rolex? I guess it's the marketing... the mystique... the price, for sure. But nobody even thinks twice of doing that to the mom that buys a 50K mini van...
Now that I know what I know about watches I absolutely don’t think Rolex is the rich guys watch. There are many many above it. However since Rolex doesn’t even come close to many of its competitors as far is cool features go I’m convinced most people buy Rolex to be noticed. Before I could make that decision about an individual I would have to see his collection first.

Whenever I feel that I'm going to an environment where people are going to "care" that I'm wearing a Rolex...

I wear my Seiko SKX. Seriously - I do.

I wear my watches for me - not for anybody else.

I wonder which model he had that “burst forward to the next second” ??

I’ve only had mine for 1.5 weeks and it sweeps - approximately 7 times per second which somehow I doubt the author is nuanced enough to have meant

Sounds like a Mondaine SBB watch.

Lost twenty something or drugged out thirty something. This is a person who hasn't learned that working and earning your way in the world will automatically make you a person worth knowing.

Why own a Rolex? Is it to look fancy and be an arse? Or is it to own a precision instrument in timekeeping that others only dreamed they could own?

Who looses a Rolex? What was that about? Me thinks he is full of the brown sludge that moves through pipes.

Seriously...........

I didn’t realize that having a Rolex and having great experiences were mutually exclusive events. Can’t you do both? Actually, can’t having a nice watch be a nice experience in itself? I’ve met some pretty cool people at these GTGs, and the watches are what have brought us together.

Also, I wonder if “experiences” are the new owning flashy jewelry to people looking for attention. Do people who travel to far off places actually always
have a great time, or is travel sometimes a pain? Is it all about great views, or is it sometimes hot, stuffy, and mosquito-infested? Are these people always appreciative of these events, or is it just something you can post to Instagram and get lots of likes?

It all depends how you wear it , I love it when I see an old guy that has worn it for 20-30 years , knocked it around a bit and still has no real knowledge of his own watch .
I've got lots of watches now including many Rolex , I hope I've not become a Rolex wearing arsehole

So his first Rolex purchase ended up being a fake and the second Rolex he lost. Maybe Rolex ownership is not for him.

I’m questioning the authenticity of the second watch.

I agree. If I’m a car guy and buy a Ferrari or a nice merc and it’s what I’m into, isn’t that having a good time at the expense of an item?

Maybe the watches were rejecting him and ran from him fake or not?

Although the watches may be figments of the author's imagination, it should be noted that Rolex has produced several quartz watches and one mechanical Tru-Beat watch.
