If any of you think that no one cares that you have a Rolex, then you are very naive!
Your coworkers might be jealous (they might not be forthcoming to helping you in your workload), your boss might think he’s paying you too much (he might not give you your yearly raises), your employee might think you are too rich and should be paying them more (they might resent you), your friends might think you are a show off, your clients might think that you are over charging them (they might haggle for a better deal). So let’s not pretend for a minute that no one cares that you are wearing a Rolex. It’s a great brand. I have three, but I don’t wear them in my office for these reasons.

Or they might be happy for you and eventually take an interest in Rolex themselves .
I converted 2 of my colleagues at my previous job into Rolex lovers.

If friends and colleagues treat you that way then you probably are an arsehole anyway .. Rolex or no Rolex

From the article "...you can't buy your way into being someone interesting..."

Wow! Who knew?

You can't blog your way into being someone interesting either.

Not quite sure I get what he is saying? So he bought a Rolex.......there are literally millions around along with the myth that people always notice them on wrists.

If this is the way you think, then you clearly lack the emotional intelligence! For someone to convert his colleagues to buy Rolex, then you are no different the. The guy that wrote the article.

Watching the “Precise second bursts” to each mark tells me it was another quartz fake. Certainly eventually losing a Rolex (and didn’t matter) also leads me to believe this. Or he’s lying to come off to his audience as beyond material things. His article does make some good points- unfortunately the way he writes also makes me question his authenticity.

I made the mistake of digging into more of this clowns musings going back 14 or so years. 7 years after his Rolex article he's still at it and no better at writing. The specific blogs about his pickup artist days are especially cringe worthy, and more than a little sad.

Someone needs to take his internet away.

This was my thoughts! Also, he first bought a fake then lost the real one! Wow!

I had a friend who said he lost his one time! I actually think he lost it in the divorce but didn't want to admit that.

Seems like a phony, disingenuous essay written by a beta-soy-boy who probably never even owned a Rolex.

I thought it was interesting as the author made some good points, some bad points... and it’s a different perspective on watches.

I just wanted to see what you guys would think about his perspective and arguments.

Plus, it’s a change from the Basel threads, the waiting list threads, the is it safe threads...

Just something different

I doubt he's ever owned a Rolex anyway...

I loved my Rolex. I held it up to my ear to hear it tick. When I was bored in class, I'd watch the second hand's precise bursts to the next second."

I believe the author must have been insecure early in his youth. Maybe he thought he would compensate for it with an expensive watch, from there he naturally transitioned into being a pick-up artist. Seems like he wasn't happy with himself and no material good will change that.

Most people are insecure in their early youth.
