Going to Japan..any ROLEX tips?

Hi guys,
Haven't been around for a long while but thought I would see if anyone had any tips on purchasing a Rolex in Japan?
I am heading there in either June or July and one of my goals will be to acquire my second Rolex. Pretty flexible on what I purchase, just what ever takes my eye at the time.
Any tips or directions to good AD's appreciated.

Cheers

AD's in Japan?, If you are looking for a Gold or TT Datejust with a sprinkling of diamonds no problem, anything else don't bother. Lots of SS sports at the grey's, but at prices that will turn your hair grey!

Anything else you need to know?

Asia is the worst place right now if you’re looking for an SS model.

This x2. Don't even bother actually shopping for anything at ADs unless you like seeing PM datejusts/day dates. Otherwise you can visit popular grey shops but the pricing is nothing enticing coming from the US, you can do far better here. In addition...I'd be very weary of vintage in Japan at the major grey shops....it's usually a don't ask don't tell type of thing lol......very rarely do I see a good original/honest watch from any display there. So know what you're buying if you are trying....and even then the prices are just way too high.

There are a lot of Rolex boutiques and ADs everywhere in the big cities, like Tokyo and Osaka (whether inside the popular malls or along the main shopping streets). They’re literally everywhere and you’re sure to find one. Since you’re not particularly in search of the coveted SS professional models, there’re plenty of choices to be had on DJ/OP and the like. I’d suggest to just get it at the airport though so that you can spend more time enjoying your holiday.

Now if you decide that you want any of the SS professional models, Japan is probably one of the most difficult places to source one at an AD or at the Rolex boutiques if you’re a tourist; be prepared to pay very high premiums at the grays but at least they’d have stock of practically any Rolex SS prof model and they’re pretty much in every main street corner or shopping area of the city

Rolex Melbourne Airport. If you are flexible, why do you need to buy in Japan?

I would check the ADs if it's convenient but expect the usual. Plenty of interesting grey market dealers where you should be able to find anything you want but pricing isn't great.

Japan has consumer goods discount stores such as Don Quijote but discount negotiation is not a part of their culture. Grey market dealers have crazy prices for hot Rolex models. The US pretty much has the cheapest pricing for SS Rolex sports models.

Rolex grey prices in Japan is a 6-month/1-year pricing forecast for the entire global market.

Yes, if you are after a solid gold piece, diamonds etc. but to find even non-sports SS and TT, is tough in Japan right now. I purchased three TT watches in Japan a few years ago. Even these I could not find at the AD's but I could get them at the grey dealers. I got them below MSRP plus the 8% sales tax off. But that was then. Now I regularly check AD's and the grey's for other watches that interest me and I notice it would be even harder to find those TT watches now at the AD's, and the greys now want above MSRP.

My brother almost passed out when he saw the prices of SS Daytona in Japan last week...So the tip is to bring lots of money or up the credit limits on your credit cards. Have fun

Well I can find discounts on Gold and some TT. I have attached a link to a grey dealer called Quark, they specialize in Rolex and have many branches. The MSRP is shown for this new DD is 3,585,00Yen but they are offering it at 3,398,000Yen and you should get a bit more off if you pay in cash which is common thing to do here, plus you can as a visitor get 8% sales tax off. They have many other new Rolex in precious metal and TT datejust models listed under MSRP. Not much of a discount but a discount never the less.

Good choice for vacation and sight seeing. Buying Rolex SS from AD there is probably the same or even more difficult than elsewhere.

Japan is one of my favorite places to visit. Enjoy the food.
Watches? Got a Seikonor Grand Seiko, Rolex miracles are less likely to happen japan.

I was in Tokyo last week and the SS DaytonaC was at around 26TEUR!!!! It increased even 4 Teur in the last 2 months... so buying new in Japan is crazy...

However you can buy this used Datejust 16234 for 2900EUR, which is quite ok

OP, the stainless Oyster line stock is almost nonexistant now at most ADs but visit anyhow, the experiece is different. For gray and vintage I prefer Jack Road and Best in Shinjuku. Enjoy your trip.

Yea forget it. I was in Nakano last weekend, its a great spot for window shopping but no chance of getting a bargain on a Rolex. You will get to see some rare models at the grey dealers, nothing in AD's.

I did pick up a Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch for $3,500 new ($3,250 if you don't have to pay the sales tax) so there are some good buys to be had if you stay away from Rolex.

As ever else has stated. It's a bad idea to search for Rolex in Japan. However there are amazing discounts to be had on brands like Zenith, Panerai and Omega. For some reason, their grey prices seem to be the best around.

There’s a guy in Japan that makes videos of his Rolex shopping trips. You can see them on YouTube. Search for Austin Daniels. I think it’s consistent with what’s been said here and then some.

I am in Tokyo right now.
ADs have nothing SS.
All DJs and DDs mostly.

Greys have anything you want.

I am going next week able to share which shop you got your speedmaster from?
