Brand new Speedy acting strange

So today is my birthday, December 21st and my wife had bought me my first ever Omega watch, the Speedmaster Hesalite with the bracelet, last Wednesday the 15th. I’ve been eying this model for quite some time but never really pulled the trigger until she got it last week while visiting one of the AD’s here in Miami.

The AD sized my watch and put it to the correct time and I’ve been wearing it every day since last Wednesday and noticed while at dinner tonight that the time had stopped at 3:04 with the seconds subdial at around the “55” mark. I tried pulling out the crown and pushing it back in with no luck getting the seconds going. I then pushed the start/stop pusher and the hand didn’t move from the 12 position at all. I then pressed the reset pusher with nothing as well.

About 15-20 minutes later after I placed it down while trying to figure out what it could be, I went to grab it to put it in the box to see the AD tomorrow and noticed that the time had now gone up to 3:05 with the seconds subdial just before the “40” but again, the seconds weren’t sweeping at all.

I’ve always owned Rolexes and I’m completely new to Omega. I’m definitely going to the AD tomorrow with the receipt since it hasn’t been a full week of owning it yet but I would love to know what would be the cause of this behavior.

I would upload the videos but not sure how to upload any videos

Moon watch is a manual winding watch and is not automatic.

I suspect your watch stop running due to power reserve, my suggestion is to perform a full wind on the watch and monitor if the situation happens again, if it does, bring it to the service centre or AD to get this issue to rectify.

Actually, disregard my entire post… since I’m a newbie when it comes to these kinds of watches, I had no idea it was manually wound and not automatic like stated by “Rolex01”. I feel like a complete dumb***

You should watch videos or read books about different calibers. And how they work.

Love this thread. I have to admit, had I not known that it was a hand-wound model, I would probably have been here posting the same thing!

Enjoy your watch, mate!

I'm wearing my watches, which consist of manual and automatic calibers, in rotation.
Every now and then, when I wear a different watch then the Speedy and I see the Speedy on my desk has stopped, it leaves me shocked at least for a few seconds until I realize that I haven't wound the Speedmaster since 3 days

So, you see it still happens and will be happening all the time. Just shake it off and move on... and don't forget to wind your Speedy

Congratulations to your watch wear it in good health!

Cheers and take care,
Michael

I am sure an AD would have enjoyed this, as a fun story for the Christmas party about a complaining customer

Happy birthday and enjoy the watch - Its a great one

Lol thank you guys for your warm birthday wishes.

Since I’ll be swapping back and forth between my Rolexes and my new speedy, I for sure now know to wind it every other dayish so it doesn’t stop like it did the other day lol.

So far, I absolutely love this watch and couldn’t be happier. I will make a dedicated thread soon once I find more time to take photos of it and post about my new acquisition :)

I hope everyone is doing well and hope everyone enjoys their holiday festivities

Happy Birthday and welcome to Omega. I bought my Speedy in August and I love it. I think, somewhere in the manual, it recommends winding the watch daily - doing it just every two days might have it sometimes getting near depletion of the power reserve.

As Dufour said once about manual winders, 'you have to feed the watch'. All part of the fun.

Happy bday and congrats on your speedy. Enjoy and wear in good health!
