FPJ CB .. What’s happening??!

I was just being offered around USD48K by a fellow collector friend for my 2019 Feb which I worn for a day then kept in the safe. I didn’t know what’s the market price are only till now! I am shocked or should I say pleasantly surprised.

So IMHO those who are on the wait list don’t give up yet. It is so much more economical to wait a little longer. You will never know, your “come pick it up” call could be only a month away!

I know you don’t need the money but that’s well over what they go for around here. Most listed in the low 30s asking.

I feel sorry to discuss about the price and money issue now I read back what I wrote in my original post but I was genuinely shocked by the crazy market we are in right now.. my nautilus too are in unimaginable market too but I never thought a micro brand like FPJ atop can have such amazing demands!

Yes, I’ve been surprised as well. Looks like they’re creeping up to 40k now

Guys,

These are asking prices, it doesn’t mean they go at that price.
Also it is true we notice prices are going up month on month but most of it is due to grey dealers buying between themselves and taking margins every time so artificially inflating the value.
I will burst at a moment or another and it’ll be painful for the ones who purchased a watch at it’s peak price.

I’m not surprised. As an owner I can attest that the CB is as special as my PP sports. Add to that the SM circular reinforcements and the increasing scarcity (closed waitlists, production cut in half, FP unhappy having a nautilus-like cult watch in his collection...)... it’s a recipe for skyrocketing prices . Glad I paid only a little above MSRP last year instead of going on the 4-5 year wait list at the time.

In my case is an actual cash offer by my fellow collector friends who is willing to pay me usd48k.. but since I am not in it for the investment, I told him mine is not for sale at this moment (never say never but just no for now)

for me it is crazy to see those serial no.2XX CB(at least dated 5yrs ago and worn) listed over 30k at chrono24. is it really just because of grey dealers doing market-making?

Great looking watch but these prices are getting way out of hand.

Maybe that’s part of it, but it’s a low production piece (~100/year) that’s become very popular - coupled with announcement that production is being cut in half and wait lists are closed ... recipe for climbing prices.

We only need to peep at PP5711/1A to realise CB still “under control”

I've seen them recently for about 37k, there's one available at a reputable store in the northeast.

Sell yours, buy theirs, and pocket 10k or buy something else with them!

Not for nothing but the prices keep spiking. Yes, I know these are asking prices but all three Bleu’s in C24 are in the high 40s. Bananas!

I’ve noticed prices gradually creeping up recently into the low 40s. Though there have been a couple of recent listings in the high 30s. I think high 40s are a bit of a reach at this point. But the price movement sort of makes sense if you consider supply and demand, and this reference seems to be gaining in popularity.

Prices might be insane but all I can say is
The CB should be 2 times more expensive than a simple steel 5711

I own both but the CB is so much more interesting

I only see prices for the CB going up up up. Same for discontinued FPJ models , esp 38mm references.

Every time I contemplate buying another time only watch from an independent brand, be it Laurent Ferrier, Gronefeld, Moser, Urban Jurgensen et al, I find myself asking "do I like this better that I like my CB?" and the answer has always been "no". Not because it has a more beautiful movement, or dial, or case shape or hands but for some reason for the CB "the whole is greater than the sum of the parts".

Rarity, exotic materials, exceptional dial, the right size n thickness n weight, timeless design dripping with FPJ brand heritage n signature DNA .. at that retail price.. a serious no brainer.

Not only is that CB absent from their website. It looks like they increased the list price for their entire Journe inventory overnight by about 40%. Nutty.

40% really? Wow. That is impressive. I think it will also drive others toward the same amount. I noticed European Watch Co. has similar prices.

Idk about collusion. Watchbox controls the majority of the FPJ pre-owned inventory and is therefore in a position to test/set the market price - it’s only natural for smaller dealers to capitalize on this and follow suit.

If price increased all across the board, cb deem as hot item now might see similar spike in price.

Sounds about right.

It's a tiny market, and one player has purchased most of the pre-owned items in the US (for many years now). Watchbox has a bunch of FP fans.
