A couple of years ago I was pleasantly surprised by a package that arrived at my door via London, UK. Shane had returned from his Club Panerai trip to Italy and enclosed a T-shirt and some other stuff.

Shane, now I can finally wear this with the pride of ownership. Thanks again, mate!!!!!

BTW, if anyone wondered about the diff in thickness between an ExpII and a PAM01:

I'd forgotten about that t-shirt! Two years has gone by so quickly!

Even when I first met you online (and before I got into Panerai) you really liked the PAM01 / 111, so I'm really happy you can wear the t-shirt with the watch.

I doubt there are many people you'll meet (including Paneristi) who have that t-shirt as it was only given to the people who attended the Club Panerai meeting in 2004.

I found some old pics of the meeting in 2004:

First one shows the naval museum at La Spezia - the historian explained how the 2-man 'torpedo sub' worked, as well as taking us through Italy's history of submarines.

Next pic is of probably the most expensive vintage Panerai you can track down and buy: ref 6152 with Rolex movement but Panerai patented crown. There is also a 6152 with Rolex brevette crown - the same type that you can find on the 6538 Submariner that Sean Connery wore in 'Goldfinger' and 'From Russia with Love'.

This is the 'California Dial' Radiomir, worn by the Italian 'Gamma' swimmers in the Second World War. I love this dial (hated it when I first saw it though!) and Panerai has produced a re-issue of this model which will be sold later this year.

The 60mm Egiziano is a monster of a watch, and was ordered by the Egyptian army.

And lastly, this is a photo of me (the short ass on the right!) with my friend Torsten, and in the middle one of the last surviving Gamma swimmers - Omeris Arpensella. He is an amazing guy - in this pic he was nearly 90 years old, but his body showed a man 40 years younger. He said the Gamma swimmers had to train by swimming 30km each DAY, with full swimming gear on. He's wearing a 47mm California dial Radiomir but it looks like a Timex on his wrist!

It's very true, Mamas. It's really the icing on the cake with the brand. The Panerai CEO actually attends Paneristi GTGs too, when he can... and participates on the forum as well. It's a 'brotherhood' unlike anything I've seen in really any consumer good, watch or otherwise.
