Hakuho!

Anyone else enjoying the Nagoya Basho and Hakuho's return? He's won two and looks strong!

I guess not! lol

Here is the GOAT's Day #1 victory (ff to 4:31):

Amazing how they avoid touching the ground with anything but the bottom of their feet.

Here is today's punishing victory.

Endo shouldn't have stuck his tongue out last time they fought!

I am, very interesting that Hakuho comes back just in time to maybe stop the next Yokozuna, Terunofuji, who must win to become one, if they are both there at the end that will be an epic climax.

Nagoya-basho has a special place for me, I spent a summer in Japan with some family friends when I was a teenager and we all watched the golden days of Akebono, Takanohana, Wakanohana and Konishiki do battle.

Teru looks very very strong since returning to the top division. What a final battle that would be! They match up very well, when the Yokozuna is at 100%. I'm not sure he's there now . . . .

You sure got enjoy some wonderful wrestlers when you were younger. I don't think we'll see talent like that again soon. And this is likely Hakuho's last basho.

You think he retires after this, or goes to the end of the year?

Top tier... not bad for an American.

it was a special event that was put on here in Vegas... they even shipped the Temple over from Japan for the event. I do believe it was the only time that temple had been outside Japan at that time.

I was in Vegas also to watch Sumo many years back. Huge Sumo fan here and so glad Hakuhō is back. Will enjoy watching him demolish all other current wrestlers whom are far below his level. I sure miss the days of Takanohana, Wakanohana, Musashimaru, and Akebono when they were evenly matched. Best era of Sumo IMO.

Seems like Khalil Mack could be a stud in sumo. Either way thanks for sharing. Never watched a sumo match.

Channel 322 on DirectTV. July Basho day 2 is today so there is a lot or Sumo left. If you record the show called Sumo Highlights its only 30 minutes long. Quite enjoyable. I even have my lady watching it...and next to those bodies...I look like a supermodel.

When I first watched Sumo, back in that baking hot Japanese summer, the brothers were actually called Takahanada and Wakahanada, and I think Taka retired the great Chiyonofuji just a basho before so I never saw him wrestle.

After Hakuho and maybe Terunofuji, it's hard to see where the next great Yokozuna will come from, it's a pretty low standard era.

Hakuho and Teru are both 5-0, this could be leading to a great final confrontation. I believe even if Teru does not win this basho he could still be promoted to Yokozuna if he has a one loss record to Hakuho, as he has won the last two tournys as well.

Day #6, Hakuho, again!

Teru won too, but I'm still looking for a standalone vid.

Easy one for the big ozeki.

If the big Yokozuna keeps cruising, like this, he may stick around for a bit yet . . . .

Teru is also still perfect. It looks like we'll have a new Yokozuna soon!

Excellent. I'll try to keep posting, then.

I can add some vids that explain some of the pageantry, if TRF is interested?

Sorry dont check in often yep I watch all matches from the two salaried divisions every night. One of the biggest events in sumo history if Hakuho and Teronofuji go through to last day unbeaten. Hakuho has already proved he was capable of coming back as big as ever with 10-0 as of the time I write. I still think he might retire this basho no matter what. Great to see big Ichi going well.
