I think the Kardashians have their own shoes, but you probably already knew that since you’re such a big fan.

Yes, you probably have (seen him around LA) and now you will see him or hear of him even more.

How so?..I’ve never paid $7k for John Lobbs.

However, like many of us...I have paid a fair bit for watches.

Thanks for asking, even though my thought is there’s probably little here. I’ll wait but I have my doubts that I’ll be proven wrong.

I think I got five pairs of John Lobb RTW for $7k, but a bucket list item is a pair of bespoke JLSJ. I’d give up a watch for it (egad, did I just say that).

Yes, because sometimes another watch is just another watch. But when you fulfill another passion you actually have met more needs or desires.

Or at least that's why I have the watches I chose but other things as well. I certainly could have purchased a number of other watches with the money I have spent on other hobbies but I chose not too.

No, five pairs of RTW for the total price of $7K.

Correct.

I considered bespoke G&G, but the MH71 last fits so perfectly I have to question what I would gain over an MTO.

Same here.

But for me I achieve a pretty good fit with a number of different Lasts so even just getting one Bespoke just doesn't have that big of draw for me.

I actually did spend a bit more than the norm on one pair of MTO boots. In fact I'm pretty sure I could easily come up with four that cost about 7K total but all of those would have been MTO and not RTW. Actually it is those that cost less than the norm that my wallet is most happiest about. There are many ways to skin the cat. But here again decisions like this are often based on the individual and what your various desires are. For me this is specifically even more true because I was extremely fortunate when it came to the shoemakers that I like I was able to find a good fit. So for me I could get more with regards to quantity without sacrificing quality and bespoke just never appealed to me. I just never needed or desired it.

Actually it's more than $7k for your first pair of JL Paris bespoke. If you want to spend that kind of money on RtW, then get an exotic skin JL. I think that's in the $9k-$10k range.

Shoes are my main hobby with watches being more of a 3rd hobby. My friends think I'm nuts spending $7k+ on shoes that have little to no resale value. At least they understand a watch has some value retention.

Yep, that's about what I would expect. Cordovan nowhere near that but there is an upcharge for that as well and that's what got me on my boots.

Jeez. It keeps getting worse. More than $7k.

I’m still gently breaking in my Cleverleys. I would like another pair...but I’ll save the big(ger) money for watches.

GJ Cleverleys are a bargain compared to the big 3 French bespoke shoe makers (John Lobb, Berluti, and Peirre Corthay). For them $7k+ is the starting point for regular calf leather.

$7k at Cleverey gets you exotic skin bespoke shoes.

Helps to know the rules. Define your needs, limits, what fits, and your desires as soon as possible. Limiting mistaes is a good thing.
