What kind of motorcycles are you into?
This is my bike. Not a terribly recent pic but it still looks the same. I bought this new in 2014, I've owned a number of bikes prior (mostly naked bikes) including one other Ducati. I love this bike. It is comfortable, fast, handles and brakes well and it has been fairly reliable. I have almost 15,000 miles on it right now. |

My Ducati ST2. Of the nine bikes I've owned, this was my favorite. I had to sell it after a head injury, but I wish I'd kept it just to look at in the garage.

A friend of mine bought one of those that had been crashed lightly (tore up the plastics and some minor rash). Actually, I think his was an ST3. He took all the plastics off and did a major service on it, which it desperately needed. I think he paid around $500 for it, maybe a bit more, and he rode it for years as a naked bike. He loves Ducatis and has owned a number of them. Another friend of mine has a Monster S4R. Both bikes have dry clutch with open clutch cover like yours and they make a racket just idling in neutral. I can't tell you how many times someone would walk up to us in a parking lot and tell one of my friends that they thought there was something wrong with their bike. If you ever want to get another Ducati I'd recommend the Multistrada. It's a great bike. Very comfortable, smooth, powerful, great handling. Probably a little heaver than the ST2 and definitely taller but it's such a fantastic bike. If I ever get rid of mine it would be for a newer model Multistrada. They are a lot more complicated though. Mine has fuel injection, a liquid-cooled, 4 valve Testastretta 1198 motor, ride by wire throttle, ABS, traction control, electronically adjustable suspension, electronic dash, heated grips, etc. You really need a dealer nearby if something crops up. Mine has been great though and I have a great dealer nearby that I've developed a good relationship with. I love Ducati with a passion. I'd be hard pressed to convince myself to buy anything else quite frankly. I keep thinking of buying an older one just to tinker with. Something like the 996 or 998 sportbike. |

Thanks, Julian. I absolutely love the dry clutch rattle. I did get a lot of comments about it when riding around town. The Sil Moto carbon fiber exhaust gave the V-Twin engine the most amazing sound of any bike I've owned. I kick myself regularly for selling it.

And if I could have any Ducati, I think I'd buy the original 916. It has to be on of the most classic motorcycle designs ever.

1998 Honda Valkyrie.
She's almost old enough to drink but I see no reason to "upgrade".

Thinking of this topic, your cruisers are your DDs and DJs, Ducati, Bimota, MV are your YMs, standard sports model your Daytona, Sub, GMT, SD, touring bikes Explorers and skydwellers.

I understand, not for everyone. They do certainly run like like beasts, it is like sitting on a beehive. It feels ”angry” all the time, never calm. But it is Italian, so you can’t expect anything else :) Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk |

This was my last naked bike. I wish I still had it. (In know, I've posted this pic here before but I just love to look at it). I had a ton of mods. Ohlins rear shock and spring, Termignoni exhaust, Pazzo levers, fender eliminator, Rizoma belt covers to name a few. If I still had it I probably would have put carbon fiber wheels on it and maybe a carbon fiber rear subframe. |
