Interesting. So, in my household I got me, my wife and my son. If my son joins TRF, his logon IP address will be the same as mine, and his email address will be from my domain. Then how can even Steve distinguish I'm not my son? Will I be treated as having double accounts?

I work in IT and I know things are not black and white in the Internet. I just think that proving someone having double account is technically impossible.

On the other hand, there are various proxy services one can subscribe to mask your IP address so that nobody knows exactly where you actually came from. This means that there is no way the staff or Steve here can find out whether someone does have double accounts.

There are other indicators besides IP address that verify that the user is an existing member using a second account (Steve practices the black arts). And more than one person in a household using the same internet connection is not the same thing as a single member using more than one account.

Hi, just to plug a responce here, everyone has a style of posting that is different, like finger prints. You can have several family members as TRF members and that is great. Also you would introduce them into the TRF family, which would give the mods a heads up to what was going on.

I was blessed to have Allan resolve my past mistake and I am still here on TRF. I cannot express being grateful to having such a good friend like Allan.

I would never dream of killing them. They are just animals trying to make a living in a place where we humans have usurped their territory. I support no-kill humane societies and other animal-friendly groups.

I did my part to help out the animal world, I have Salem to tend to, that kitten is growing like a weed and spoiled rotten.

Glad to hear you are doing well, I am hopeful the problems with TRF will blow over and we will get back to having fun again.

Well, my take here is that if one is determined to hide his tracks, there is no way the staff here can find out, i.e. if the person is disciplined enough to consistently use a proxy service for his 2nd account, ensuring his posting/writing style is different, making sure he does not logon at the same range of times, befriending different groups of members, read different parts of the forum, there is no technical way to prove that a member has multiple accounts. The evidence is all circumstantial. Of course if the "guys" start attacking the same member, log on at the same time, say/write same/similar things, then it's elementary to prove.

Nicko, you know as well as I the mods are important for maintaining order here and without them the folks that are trolls would take over. It has nothing to do with being a brown nose, the mods are important and need as much respect as we can give them. Allen , I would say FINALLY one of the mod's seems to have gotten enough of the little bitchiness posts that seem to flourish TRF lately too .
Personally I find the Machiavellian "behind the scene elaborated lobbying" by some far more disturbing then the "open warfare" even I indulged in against a particular "colorful" member .

Technically, you are correct. However, rarely do all of the things you mention actually happen. The user is generally NOT disciplined enough to do everything right, and in fact, usually reverts to some telltale behavior that tips one or all of the mods (or other members) off to who the user really is. Not always right away, but eventually.
