I have just under a 7.5inch wrist so feel the larger 5168 would suit me more than the 5167. But I love the functionality of the 5164 too. A 42mm 5164 would have me jumping up and down tbh.
Is the 5168 mission impossible to get from an AD ? |

It’s not impossible. Your opportunity increases massively if you’re not a new customer.

i cant really gauge if the 5168 is that hard to get or the demand is much lower because its 42mm, really flat/thin in relation to the diameter, and WG. Its undeniable there isnt that many floating around and less than I thought, but as to why, i don't know.

Have you tried one on? Due to the rounded octagon shape the 42mm felt a bit bloated and out of proportion on me, the 40mm are a bit small granted, esp for 7 plus wrists, but they do feel in proportion.

No I haven't. Issue is nowadays even the Patek salon has none to show you. Beyond a joke.....you have to go to grey dealers to try them on......

Just putting a wrap on day one with my 5167. Man-o-man... I’m flat out in love with this reference. It’s something like a perfect blend between a Nautilus and a classic Calatrava, but with a rubber strap. So good! Hope you’re able to acquire one soon!

I have an Aquanaut on the bracelet in mint condition. Box and papers. Don’t particulary want to sell, or need to, but would for £22.5k. |

I have a 5167A I got back from Patek Service this week I’m going to be selling in Florida. Has box, extract from archives but not original certificate. Haven’t opened the box yet to post for sale but I assume it will be like new as Patek service is awesome (albeit slow). DM me if in the market for this watch and can live without original certificate. I’m not the original owner but owned it 4 years. I’m holding out for a new one from Tiffany with my name on the papers that I’ll keep forever. Have 5167R and this one seems duplicative. If I’m gonna sell need to do it before I wear it.

Not sure wether its a good idea to sell my 5167 at this stage. I have to wait until Feb 2019 to see what allocation they will receive of the 5164.
Think I would prefer to keep it - better to have a Aquanaut then not - huh? |

I would keep it my 5167a on rubber is one of the most versatileunder the radar watches in my collection. I can wear it at a formal event or at the dog park and everything in between.

Do Aquanaut 5167 seekers always want/prefer the composite rubber strap version rather than the steel bracelet version? If so, would you wait 2-3 years for the rubber strap watch rather than having the steel bracelet version in 9 months or so? (especially if the AD was willing to throw in a complimentary rubber strap with the steel bracelet version)?

IMO, The only reason to turn down this offer from your AD would be because you don’t want to pay the premium for the bracelet . I preferred the rubber and got mine in 3 months , but if faced w your choice (if you believe the 2-3 year wait), I would go for the bracelet plus free rubber. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
