Fake Dial/Fake Parts?
A friend recently purchased this Rolex Datejust from a pawn shop. He was told the dial was changed out, but authentic. Also was told they swapped a sapphire crystal on (not authentic). Thinking this watch is supposed to have an acrylic crystal.
We would appreciate some help identifying any obviously fake parts on this watch. Any idea of the age would also help. He's planning to take it to RSC soon. |

They gave an accurate description... this appears to be a 16014 model... that dial is actually for that vintage and is very rare and has “burns” around the lumes... if he takes it to an RSC for service they will likely replace it and put an acrylic crystal... I would switch the dial to something else before sending for service and keep that dial... it would be worth the investment as they will charge you for a dial change anyway...

CrownCollection & JVMartin, Thank you, this is very helpful. I searched online and was unable to find another watch with the same dial. Great advice about the RSC
