New Seamaster 300?

Nobody talked about it since Basel. Just curious to know who is waiting in line for one.

I was a huge fan but the sandwich dial turned me off

I think it would look very good on a NATO strap, not a fan of that bracelet.

It has the potential to be a great watch, but the mix of old (sandwich dial, fake patina, straight lugs) and new (polished bracelet) is odd.

Agree with Wes, as usual. Too many incongruous visual cues. At least to my eye.

The fake patina looks better on the TT and YG version. Haven't seen any in real life yet though.

Not for me. It has a lot I like about it but doesn't quite hit my sweet spot.

Not sure about it, haven't seen it in the "flesh"... At this point it does not do it for me

The lugs seem weird to me, the PCLs look out of place also.

I was going to get this when it came out but I have a feeling that I'll get the Dark Side of the Moon first then the Seamaster shortly after.

For anyone in San Diego, the Omega boutique is going to have all the Baselworld 2014 lineup watches in the stores the last week of June. I think on the 25th they're having a champagne/ invitation luncheon in the evening.

In exactly 48 hrs, I will have this watch on my wrist...

I will be able to give an "in the flesh' account, and hopefully photos...

I am most excited about the speedmasters though....

My biggest dilemma will be going home with an apollo 45th, deposit on the Lunar Dust, or picking up a DSOM...

I have to say I love love love the sm 300.... just not sure I have room for it in my collection...soooo many black face SS watches...

curious about the TT and RG models...

I had an invitation to the one at the NYC boutique but missed it due to work. Take pics if you go, I want to see what I missed!

Overall a very nice looking piece...not a huge fan of fake patina or the PCLs on the bracelet. It would have been great without them.

The bracelet doesn't work for me. I actually like the dial and faux patina.

I like the watch but if ever I get one, I want to put a nice vintage leather strap on it, something like a Tudor Black Bay-look but even better.

6K for fake patina, I'm passing. But eager to see them in the wild, you never know, I may change my mind....

looking forward to seeing these pics, I also like the patina and dial but not sure about the bracelet. (deposit on the Lunar Dust sounds good)

Swatch Group had a change to hit it out of the ball park, especially when putting the new movement and clasp on this watch. And then they go and put jewerlry polished center links on it... I don't mind PCLs on a gold or TT watch, but on a stainless steel diver it just doesn't belong.

My thoughts exactly. I have mixed feelings when I see it. If only it had a normal dial with silver or white markers and all brushed links it would be hard to resist, but it almost seems like Omega outsourced a homage watch with Steinhart or something like that with so many odd stuff going on.

I agree the PCLs are not good to see but you can always brush those away or go to a trusted jewelry store or to an authorized Omega AD and have them brush it away. Problem solved.

That's true. The problem is that Omega intended the watch to be this way. It's confusing to think how Omega thought this was a good idea. The bigger problem, in my eyes at least, is that Omega is having an identity crisis. They obviously embrace new technology and materials. Their new movements are beautiful (much nicer looking than Rolex movements) and very advanced. The use of ceramic cases is also very cool. On the other hand, Omega seems to think that it's a good idea to introduce vintage-inspired models. In the end, it makes their collection cluttered and confusing. In 10 years, who knows what Omega will be doing. That could be bad if you invest in Omega watches now.

Thinking about that really makes me appreciate Rolex. They are very conservative with their watches. The Sub, DJ, GMT-Master, Explorer, Day-Date, etc... all look very similar to the original models. Rolex knows what works and they stick to it.

My first nice watch was an Omega. Omega will always have a special place in my heart. I just hope that they find their own identity.

I know what you mean. Omega was my favorite brand for almost two decades. But I believe there's hope for them my friend. They know how to make great watches like this when they want to.

I love that watch. It's the perfect example of a watch that is well thought out, modern, yet classic. More importantly, it demonstrates the type of watch that Omega is capable of producing.
