Which is the best 4 watch collection?
Looking to have a four watch collection out of these five choices (5712/1a, FP Journe Chronometre Bleu, 5167/a, Rolex Daytona (White) and Rolex no-date Submariner (114060).
Which would you choose assuming you could get all at retail with no wait, but they were the only 4 watches in your collection?* *Need at least one to wear with a suit and tie, and one to wear with a bathing suit. ^As you can see, the 5712/1a is going to be one of the 4 watches no matter what. |

Which is the best 4 watch collection?
4 nautilus?
Any 4 for me it’s SS BLRO, 5990, 5164, and 5524g... and yes I’m aware of the dial time overlap. I like what I like I might swap the 5524 for a 5980/1R though. Hypothetically Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Of your choices, #1, zero contest. That's probably because I have 3 out of 4 of them.
I am at my ideal four, and I am perfectly happy with what I have and have no desire to sell or acquire anything at this point in time. It's a good feeling. |

Nice list, and even better that you have them all! I would go 5990, 5711 (blue), ceramic Daytona (white) as definites. 4th would be 5740 in my dreams, but more realistically either the 5164, 5968, 5711 (white) or SS BLRO.

Which is the best 4 watch collection?
12, fpj cb, Daytona for sure. Since no GMT watch, I suggest going with the batman /blro (instead of submariner) or 5164 instead of 5167

My 4-watch collection would be 5740G, 5270P, 5711/1A and 15305ST. Cheers.

I’ve tried to get down to 4 as well, but haven’t had the guts to.
I would get the first four and forget about the Sub, unless you really plan on diving with it.

That is definitely a potential longer-term possibility, but the 5164 is double the price of the 5167, retail to retail, so that makes the total outlay a little more than I want right now. But with secondary prices continuing to rise on the 5167, a future flip to a 5164 is a definitely possibility if I go the 5167 route.

Option 1, but make the 5712 a 5170P, the CB a 5522A, the 5167a an ALS Saxonia, and keep the white Daytona.
Did I answer the question?

Keep the sub but swap out one of the PP's for an AP. Can always go for a Jumbo instead of 5712 or a ROO instead of the Aquanaut.

The 3rd option, but replace 5167a with 5164R. Or 5711-1r and 5164a. A perfect balance of functionality, materials and workhorses.
