This is the first time we train a guide dog, the charity told us it is definitely possible to see the dog and his owner when he is fully settled and operational.

Good luck in your endeavour. Being an animal lover myself and guardian of a fine French Mastiff, when I see puppies-in-training it is very heart warming knowing that they are going to grow up to help someone. I wish we could tell them how important their job is going to be.

Cheers.

Well said my friend, take good care of him and I know whoever will benefit from his help will be in good hands.

I was the Disability Advisor for a government department many years ago and saw many people whose lives were substantially enriched by these wonderful companions.
Their training can be very costly so it sounds like you are making a big 'gift' by doing it for the charity.
Well Done!

What an angel (the dog), OP very nice of you to train him for a blind person.

It is mostly funded by donations to the 'kngf' charity, our cost as 'trainer' is primarily time.

Labradors are often used in the process of adaptation of blind people: excellent guides and companions are obtained from dogs of this breed.

Interesting first post.

As to follow up on my original post:

Harvey completed his training with us, went to school and is now a buddy dog for a retired police officer with PTSD, a very good cause

My Godson has a dog that was a big time biter as a puppy. She left a few teeth marks in my Smurf. I’ll let him decide to polish it or keep the marks. I had it serviced and requested no polishing. It’s a good story behind the watch.
