5968 vs. 5990
need a new sport watch - well, maybe “want” is more accurate than “need”...
can’t decide between 5990 nautilus or 5968 aquanaut... assuming either one would be purchased from an AD, let me know your respective thoughts... |

Tough call. Both winners.
I vote for whatever you can get first.

You already have blue covered with your 5170p, maybe go 5990

I have both. The 5968 and 5990 are 2 very different watches
I like the 5968 on the orange strap. I find the chronograph is easy to read on the 5968 compared to 5990. However I feel that the 5990 is a superior watch compared to the 5968 and better value for money as well. There is a crazy premium for the 5968 at the moment but I still feel it is over priced (MSRP) compared to other Aquanauts, even though it is the cheapest chronograph Patek has produced. To me 5170P is a superior watch compared to both 5968 and 5990 |

The 5990 is my favourite watch in the world. I appreciate that there are better and more impressive watches out there, but not to my taste. So easy decision...5990!!
But...the 5968 is a terrific watch and would love to add one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Personally, I prefer any Nautilus over the Aquanaut due to the beautifully crafted Nautilus bracelet and case, although I understand some prefer watches in rubber strap. It's your preference really, there is no bad watch here. Not sure if you are referring to the 5980, but the 5968 is not blue and it has the same dial color as the 5167. |

none if you plan to bring it into water otherwise both are great might be the 5990 has a more interesting complication .

I'd usually take a Nautilus first, then the Aqua.

For me, I find the 5990 to have an edge over the 5968 in terms of beauty, complications, diameter. Then again, I haven’t tried either on so not sure how thick the 5990 wears at 12.5mm

as much as i love my 5170p - and it IS a beautiful, elegant watch, i find it sometimes hard to see the hands in the evening and actually see what time it is... (this could be due to the fact that i heard a rumor i turned 60 earlier this year - but it's a rumor i'm choosing not to believe...) but i digress - so, your comment on the 5968 being easy to read hit home with me... i think the 5990 is probably a better long-term value, but you have to be able to tell the time, don't you? i guess i could just look at my iphone!!! after a number of years, i've decided that any new watch acquisitions need to be stainless steel or platinum, and have a chronograph function if they're a complication, or if not, just simply provide the time - 5522a, 5196, etc. obviously, both the 5990 and 5968 fit those requirements... maybe i'll just do what someone else had suggested, and leave it in the hands of the AD gods... |

I would go with 5968, for me thebigger size and the orange strap are winners (goes back to your personal preference at the end).
