1570/1575 movement question

Am I right in thinking that the 1570 movement is a non date movement where as the 1575 is a date movement? And when did the 1570 movement first appear? Would it have been 1965 or earlier?

TIA

I'm not sure of this because I think my DJ has a 1570 movement. It's non-hacking and non-quickset. I'm interested to hear others weigh in here. If I can fins a pic of my 1570 movement in the DJ I will post it.

Well I couldn't find my pic but here is a link to a utube video showing the 1570 in a 1601 DJ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u4YpW_d7Ds

Correct.....1570 no date ....1575 Date.....I think the 1500 movements came in about 1967, but I could be wrong.....

1570 is a date movement: 1575 has a hacking feature vs. 1570 -no hacking feature--it was added in 72 on the 1575. Other than that-they are both pretty similar and based on the 1530 caliber movement. I am sure other folks on here know of other differences which I am sure there are others......

Your starter for ten !

Now pay attention Chaps ! Here is 1968- 1675. Examine and discuss the piece ,
I will start by pointing out the extremely rare 'Stealth' second hand , now you
may continue...your views on the lugs, dial, date-wheel, hands and condition
would be greatly appreciated. You may even have a stab at guessing the price
paid for it. Go to my Buckeroos.

OP Date 1575 fetures

Hi,

I just bought an OP Date circa 1967 with 1575 mouvement with stop second but I read that stop second is only from 71/72 on 1575 ? Is it possible to have a hack on 1575 from 1967 ?

Thank you

Need better pics of the lugs but it has a service dial, hands and date wheel for starters.

I hope he knows he paid for a serv dial, hands and date wheel in the price he's wanting us to guess.

Not very likely. More likely the movement was replaced at some point.

Of course since he bought it in 2010 there is a good possibility that he paid less for the entire watch than he could sell that insert for today.

1680 White Sub Movement

Hello everyone, I have a 1680 submariner without papers. I was recently asked about my watche's movement and for the first time I had NO IDEA! I assume in order to find out i have to open the back, but my next service is not due anytime soon and I assume that's the only way I can find out what movement I have. what am I supposed to look for?

I believe the 1570 was introduced around '65, hacking around '72. The 1575 refers specifically to the GMT complication. Plates were always marked 1570 (except for the picture of one which will be posted shortly to ensure my dumassery for the day:) never 1575. The Date complication is designated on the movement serial number by the addition of a D.

A no-date has a plain serial number, a Date 1570 serial number is preceded by a capital D and most esoterically a Day Date has two capital Ds preceding the movement serial number.

It occurred to me some of you may not have been aware a 1570 movement has a serial number. It's plainly visible on the 1601 movement above. It's there on the left side, looks to be D86800. I'll reproduce it here to keep you from getting whiplash.
