Supply the same. Demand though the roof. Means prices go up.

Basic economics

THis just gors on to prove that forums like this, are only a snapshot of market conditions out there. We are just peanuts, enthusiasts who vent our frustration and analysis based on..what ? Only the broader market that is real.

Yep and the economy is best it’s been. Now when or if that ever turns will be interesting. Rolex has a million ADs out there right now with crap selections, tons of sales reps and nothing to sell. When times get tough that will be interesting but can’t imagine the Rolex only ADs can stay afloat with current conditions forever. You need something to sell. Rolex is a luxury not a need.

Just my luck. I waited almost 40 years to buy my first Rolex and now this is the state it is in!?! Why couldn't this frenzy have held off another year so I could get a BLRO!?!

Anyone who is worried about Rolex hasn't been paying attention to the industry at all.

When demand is soft and supply is up, prices go down. Prices are at an all time high, so that should tell you something abundantly obvious about the demand and how many Rolex watches are selling.

For those of you in other industries -- imagine a product that you or your company supplies for $10,000. Imagine the feeling of having a product so in demand that you have a list of 30 people who would buy it instantly as soon as it came in the door.

Great article. Further proof that the shortage is caused by high levels of demand.

Also, I wouldn't say that Rolex has a 'crap' selection at all. The article implies that Rolex watches aren't just defined by the sports models. I've never walked into an AD and found nothing!

Just have a little more patience. The business cycle is 9+ years into an expansion phase. The stock market is a leading indicator and it’s begun to roll over.

Given the panic frenzy on this forum about not being able to buy a watch when they want it, Rolex is doing great and should continue with their current strategy.

I am happy with what I have right now.
I like to buy more, but don't need it.
Will snap up a bunch when they are under MSRP again.

The SS BLRO, like the D500, was much awaited, so this was always going to be over-demanded and rare. If you've always wanted a black subc you would really be gutted to be buying it now, worst time ever.

prices havent gone up substantially. it means they are selling more watches. price has remained constant for ADs unless you are suggesting ADs are selling at premiums to MSRP.

I was just going to quote this.

AD sales associates are receiving sensitivity training.

Because a year ago you could have easily got one from ADs in UK, and two years ago even with a discount. They were never hard to get before.

Locally, one AD is advertising to buy used watches. I stopped in with my collection and will see how serious they are on Friday. It seems that they are playing both AD and Gray at the same time. I'm not expecting good results.

My original post was meant tongue-in-cheek...

In hindsight I should have titled it “Rolex has 1.5 billion reasons to keep doing what they doing”

"No, we don't have that Hulk new at retail, but we have it here used for $12,500, available today. It's in great shape. Almost brand new. In fact, it's a one owner and has only been worn for about one week by our other salesman, yeah him, right over there, Frank. Frank took great care of it."
