good watches with a good story and dedicated collectors but would the story be the same if there wasn't an association with Rolex??? jury's out...

Excellent Watches!
Those who bash the brand have probably never owned one!

If they don't sell them here in the US, where are all you New York and US guys buying them? Are the ones you are showing all vintage or older models. Its hard to tell I am not familiar with them at all.

This is a Tudor 79190, the very last Submariner made by Tudor, with a sapphire glass. The last models with white gold surround dials were fitted with a stunning silver and shiny bezel.
Mine is a 79190 with a glossy and painted dial that came originally with a blue insert but I also own an original Tudor silver insert that I switch from time to time. It is really awesome imho. A 79190 with a white gold surround dial and its silver insert: It also existed in black:(pic from Fuller1845 from wus forum) |

Awesome discussion. Makes me want to expand my horizons as well. So many Tudors look just different enough from Rolex to add something different without losing the quality, first impression, and all-important WIS-nod.

I already own a GMT-Master, so I have a Rolex. I'd love to own a Tudor Sub one day.

Great write-up. Here are reason # 6 & 7 (for me anyway).
Reason # 6: RARITY. Even though this may change now with the success of the latest Tudor releases. But they are manufactured in much smaller numbers than Rolex - so they are not on EVERYBODY'S arm. Reason # 7: NOT A ROLEX. While I like (vintage) Rolex too, for me, the fact that Tudors are not burdened with the Rolex-in-your-face-status-symbol image is a major draw! Tudors are all about understatement. A concept that is almost not understood anymore in todays world. BB-&-SF-web.jpg |

Btw, it is not an association because Tudors are made by Rolex as Tudor is Rolex. Just a different marketed product line. |

I think the value point of the OP has changed since the two years. Even 79190s are going for nearly as much as a used two-liner 14060. Should have never sold my 79090 and 76100... No chance in getting them back now.

Good thread. I am tempted by that Black Bay. I recall seeing Tudor in fine shops in NYC in the early '80s, but did not know the Rolex connection until I joined this forum. I find Tudor to be very appealing, both the vintage and current production models...

I love Tudor. I would love to get my hands on a mint 79190 sub. Maybe next year they'll reissue the submariner. I can dream, can't I.
