Starter pens ordered

I'm not really into pens per se, but I just ordered a Pilot Metropolitan and the Lamy Safari to try out. A few years back I went to a pen show with a fellow forum member (different watch forum) and it was cool to see but it didn't really do anything for me at the time. Let's hope I don't slide down the slippery slope, because I need another hobby like I need...

I want to thank clicking on this forum section for the enabling anyway.

Metropolitan's nib tends to clog up on me after very short periods of non-use. They write very well for an inexpensive pen though. I don't care for the ergonomics, nor the writing of the Safari, though they do have a following. It's all personal preference. There are many great pens in the <$300 range. IMO, above that and you're paying for art.

Here's to the slide!!!! No issue with the Lamy; it's a great pen although nowhere near as nice as the Montblancs, imho. They also use proprietary cartridges and converters. I'm not really familiar with the Pilots other than their disposables.

Welcome to the rabbit hole. Come in, get yourself a drink and make yourself comfortable.

You've picked a couple of great ones to start with. I hope you get lots of pleasure from them... and the others that will join them. Just to enable further, have you given any thought to which ink(s) to use?
