Welcome to the forums.
Greetings to you in Japan. Great to have you here.
You have a very nice 114270

However it appears to be a REPLICA and I don't like replicas!

Strange, there should be a line all the way cross between "SWISS" and "MADE". But I didn't see it from the picture.

Not quite sure what line you are referring to?

Fantastic watch....does anyone know, can you wear this on a Nato/Zulu ? If so, it would make the perfect "take any sh~t beater".

Hmmm....very interesting. In your picture the vertical divider mark goes all the way down....whereas in the pics at the very top, the line goes only half way.

Probably different dial printers.

Re: Explorer I

Hello and welcome.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but I think that your Explorer I is a FAKE.

My reasons are as follows:

1. The coronet at 12 o'clock is wrong shape.
2. The dial printing is poor quality.
3. The 3,6 and 9 markers seem a little thick (the white bit)
4. The bracelet reference of 78768 is TOTALLY wrong. It should
be 78690.
5. The bracelet links should grade down in thickness as you go
from the lugs towards the clasp.
6. The minute hand is too long.
7. The seconds hand is too short.
8. The "SWISS MADE" is also not right.
9. The triangle at 12 o'clock is too high.
10. The 5 minute markers are touching the lume markers.
11. The winding crown is wrong (too thick).

He is a picture of mine. Bought brand new D Series from AD in 1995.

I hope you can get a refund. I'll be interested to know what movement is in that.

John.

...also you can clearly see the laser etched coronet on the crystal......no way on a real one.
Sorry to hear about this one...................

Yeah, this watch looks extremely odd. The first thing that stuck out to me was the wacky looking coronet on the dial. The minute markers are way too loooooong. Sorry, but you definitely have a fake.

I guess he knew it was a fake . He doesn't seem too concerned about it, unless he's not reading the post anymore. Poor chap.

Yep, just checked against mine and it's very obvious that the spacing of 'Swiss Made' is incorrect on the poster's 'Rolex'. The other details I had to look hard at!

The 3,6,9 sit on the minute makers. They should be 1/64 away.
The line should be full length solid between Swiss and Made
The second and minute hand should barely touch the minute markers
The white within the 3,6,9, should be barely visible
The 5 minute markers should not touch the minute markers
