Bruised-Battered-Beaten Road Bike Crash

2 days ago while out on my cardio bike ride at 0400am traveling well over 20MPH on my singlespeed, I had a very nasty crash/collision with a "RACCON". 2 cracked ribs, 1 hair line crack on left clavicle, 10 stitches to top of coconut with virtually any damage to bike... EMS had to come and take me to emergency ward but all good here but very sore and bruised with lots of really nasty deep road rash. Also not a spring chicken anymore..

Bruised-Battered-Beaten Road Bike Crash

Oh dear BR

Glad it wasn’t worse and they could patch you up.

You always have a helmet on if I recall from your photos ? Good thing if so

I guess this won’t be stopping you getting on your bike again though

Sorry to hear. Glad you didn't come off worse and hopefully the bike is ok. I've enjoyed reading the RIP thread for your other bike and hope you get back on the road soon.

Hope you heal up soon! I am sure it hurts, but could have been a lot worse. Damn raccoons!

Oh man, I've had a couple of crashes on a road bike and know that they're painful. Fortunately, you don't have any serious injuries. Hang in there and be safe.

Sorry to hear and glad you’re ok. Nasty injuries but they will heal.

I got taken out by a wild creature a few months ago. It sucks. Left with permanent furniture inside of my thigh for life.

Down but not out. You’ll be back on the saddle soon enough. Meantime I gather you’ll buy some expensive stuff and tuck it away in your basement

Get well

Sorry to read about your prang.

You can do some serious damage at 20 mph on a pushy.

Get well soon mate.

Based on your purchasing habits I expect you were wearing one of the best full face helmets?

Critters like dogs are one of cyclists biggest enemies. I've had my fair share.
A racoon normally would not bother a cyclist so you must have been very lucky. However, lucky not to have more serious injuries.
Get well soon and get a bike with gears, I don't like single speeds so much although I've had a number over the years.

Thanks and yes would never ever consider being on that bike without a helmet. I guess this is just part of it when on a bike as many times as I am..Determination and will power is still there but very sore and hurting for a few days..!

Thanks..Only thing that happen to my bike is that it knocked my right brake lever out of position and blood on handlebar tape but not a single scratch on bike.. These crashes are hard to swallow..

I am pretty sore and stiff and the road rash is killing me as it heals and dries.. No watch on but looks like my Garmin Edge 1030 is trashed as it will not come back on..
