Was at the AD today and they had 2 BLNR's. I did not make an offer and he did not offer a discount to entice me. Guessing he will hold out for msrp.

Had I been able to find one in Hong Kong, would've gotten it there, probably for even less.

The Daytona however.....Well.....Still a HUGE premium on the SS black dial model. No less than $17000 SGD or $12,000 USD.

If you're in Singapore or Hong Kong and you're an American or any other foreigner, you'll get really good deals on the slightly less popular models like the Explorer II (42MM), Milguass (any color) or Datejust or Datejust II models b/c of the mighty USD and the 7% GST refund in Singapore.

Probably little to no discount on Submariners (most models), GMT (LNs), Yachtmasters, Sea Dwellers or Deepseas.

But the BLNR? Best you'll currently do in Asia is $8500 USD from an AD. Used from 2013? $8100 at best. Just wait another year and you'll find more and more of them on the open market. Why not just get a Sub-C used? Best sports watch EVER in my opinion and you can get it for less than $6000 USD if you negotiate enough.

Ed
It's quite market specific. Plenty of diamond encrusted ladies models sold there but good deals on Rolex 'classics' as you mention. 5-8% possible on DD DJ Explorers and many precious metal models without a haggle. Current Stainless GMT and Subs, not a penny discount but the AD's all have stock. It's a great place to look at shiny things!

I've bought two BLNRs at 15% off MSRP in the last 6 months. Made the call and watch was on wrist in less than a week. Just need to have a relationship with your AD...but they are not that hard to get anymore.

Location location location.

Go to where the watches are - or have someone do it for you. It's a mass produced thang. Not a Patek or ALS or AP which are made in much smaller numbers.

The soaring price of the BLNR?

Walked in and got it at over 15% off MSRP from my local AD. I agree that it is helpful to have relationships with all your local ADs if possible.

I wouldn't base a conclusion on Ebay - it's a place where many sellers have caviar dreams.

They sell at above retail in Singapore because of demand, along with SS Daytona black dial, DSSD B-Blue and (depending who you talk to) Sub C LV.

I managed to find one in the UK last Christmas without too much difficulty (a lot of places claimed a short waiting list but I eventually found one).

They were quite difficult to pick up here in Singapore earlier this year when a mate was looking for one.

I believe the whole problem with this is supply and demand people have gone nuts for this bezel design. Which is basically settling ror black blue when I think most people wanted blue red Pepsi style anyway. What my authorized dealer is told me is that since they couldn't produce enough for the world market they decided to stop producing them completely that sounds like a real cop out or a smart way to make money and inflate the current inventory. My advice is to wait a year when the readily available and then you'll be able to buy one for probably cheaper then what the black dial version is going for now. For those of you that have one wear it in good health and enjoy

Seriously? I'd wager a beer that a year from now you'll look at this prognostication and laugh at how wrong you were.

No reason you can't get a pre loved one here on the FS for 7500-7700$. No tax and quick shipping.

what country are you in because if you are in europe or australia and are comparing to the US RRP that is where the extra 20% is coming from

I cannot understand why my local pre owned dealer is charging a £300 premium over MRRP for a pre owned BLNR, when two local ADs have them new in stock at MRRP. Has the world gone mad, who in their right mind would pay more for a second hand watch?

Can second this. Definitely a heard watch to track down in Singapore. Luckily one finds top people on TRF to help out fellow WIS. 👍🏼

Hi all, I love the BLNR of that I have no doubt, but what is causing the price to soar - it seems that to buy one I am already a couple of thousand over the retail price. I know it's difficult to get one in many countries but is it more than just that?

Soaring? Based on what? The watch hasnt been discontinued and the you can still get one under retail at many spots. Stop the hype!
