Date window frame

I just noticed a frame around the date window on the dial. I haven't noticed that on other Rolex's can anyone tell me more when Rolex did that or am I just being less observant with other watches?

There is a little stainless Steel frame around the window the picture doesn't point it out too well.
Here's a pic that shows it better.

Stuart's limited production Datejust Thunderbird dial has an 18k date window surround.
