Congrats on a stunning example. I have the same with the black dial and white subs. The rotating bezel makes it rarer than the other chronos in the series.
Wear it in good health and congrats,

Can someone explain what "Big block" means as it relates to Tudor watches? It looks like it could be the same case as Rolex. Is that accurate?

My new Tudor Tiger (79270) SN is H116xxx. Does anyone know the year or a good reference for finding out more about this watch?

Gratuitous watch pic.

Checkout this, Bill:http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...ight=pjsteiner

The Big Blocks have large flat case sides like those found on Subs and SD's except exaggerated to fit the self winding 7750. The 792X0 and 792X0P series have rounded case sides like those found on the modern Daytona.

The bigblock case is probably twice the thickness as your case.
The bigblock case started in the 70's with the Tudor Monte Carlo chronos,
and ended with the 791xx reference, when they switched to 792xx reference the vases became thinner and more like the Daytona case.

Great info, thanks. That's quite a difference. But now I'm more confused. 79270 SN H11xxx, Tiger. What year would that be?

The Big Block vs later chrono cases is a bit deceiving. Both are quite tall and need to accommodate the the Valjoux 7750. The Big Blocks house the movement in the case with a rather flat case back. Whereas the later models have a slightly thinner case but a more pronounced, deeper case back. The designs of each accentuate these traits making the Big Block seemingly wear larger. In reality they wear the same, imho.

Looks like a 1999. These are estimates but probably as close as you'll come to narrowing it down, thanks to Bagel's hard work.

That's right Dan. A big thank you to bagel.

And great observation with the case and casebacks of the different models.

Great watch! Here's a picture of another brother from Norway together with a younger, yellow, cousin. Mine is a B634xxx, around 1995, I think

You gotta love that big block, it's just awesome.

I really like that silver dial/black sub-dial combo.

I absolutely love the 94300. What an amazing piece!! I used to own a big block but sold it 8 years ago, what a big mistake. I regret it so much. I just bought a nice 79280 transitional model so I don't feel so bad about not having my old Tudor.
