The Chrystal

I recently had my 1943 Rolex Oyster repaired. When doing so, without my consent, they replaced the original crystal with one that I'm not sure if it's authentic. I didn't mind the old one although it had some minor chaffing on it. It had been polished. Does this devalue my watch? Should I complain?

Replacement of the acrylic crystal is pretty typical for plastic crystal models. Over time the acrylic becomes brittle and some even yellow a bit..

If you did not use a Rolex account shop, then it is likely that a generic crystal was installed. If here was any possibility that the integrity of the watch could have been compromised with the old crystal, then it should be replaced..
