Patina trend?
Will the Patina trend (watches with heavy oxidation on indexen/dial/hands) stop. If yes/no - please develop you thoughts?

Personally I love patina.
It’s always difficult to forecast the opinion of people - so on the ‘demand side’, who knows? But on the ‘supply side’ - modern watches are unlikely to develop the patina the tritium ones have - so there should less of it available. The relative scarcity makes me think it’ll remain ‘popular’ or desired. |

I think the trend toward patina is here to stay. Several companies do it very well and I am sure the sales reflect it.

I think there will always be an ongoing market for patina. We, as people, tend to be nostalgic of the past. Panerai makes watches with nods to the past. Look at Fender producing "closet classics" and "relic" guitars. The market is there.

Well first its mainly Rolex watches with Tritium type dials will develop any patina,so any Rolex after 1997/8 with Luminover its very doubtful if they will show any normal age patina.Myself like the vintage aged patina in all watches all brands.

Not sure I'd call the love of patina a "trend." It's an intrinsic part of vintage-watch collecting/admiring.
And it goes beyond color-changing tritium. Dials age and can change color, cases age, lettering fades, hands oxidize, etc .... The whole "feel" of a vintage watch is about "patina," or the lack of it in some cases. |

Faux patina = yuck
Real patina = cool Don't see the trend going away at all. In fact, the patina trend has infected classic cars, too. |

I don’t like it, real or faux. I want things to look nice and new or gently worn and loved at best. Once it starts to look rough I’m not interested.

Not a trend. It's the beautiful, natural aging of a watch over time. It can be mimicked but not created.

Some enjoy the patina of a vintage dial while others prefer the white to off-white color of original dials from back when they were new. It's all personal preference but the majority of collectors, based on my experience, prefer patina which seems to rule the hobby.
Patina......very minimal patina!!!
