Gold Chain Anybody?

I guess it’s kind of an investment maybe. I was just curious as to if any of you have a gold chain and if so if you don’t mind sharing a photo. I am contemplating weather or not. I like the Baht, but am not sure. What do you think is a reasonable size and or weight.

Thanks

John the Miami Cuban link is the best chain for everyday wear-box clasp makes it almost snatch proof, the chain is handmade and very durable.

I wore a 28 inch(I am 6'1-290) 100'ish gram chain for years-never took it off. Last year, I was involved in two auto accidents that screwed up my neck and back so I traded the chain towards a Rolex.

This might sound odd but if you have neck or back problems, the weight of the chain might cause discomfort.

All the best...…..

I love anchor link chains, maybe from living near water for so many years.

I wear a 14kt white gold link chain all the time. I never take it off unless it needs a rare cleaning.

Love the stories folks.
Scott how funny. I was involved in 2 accidents myself last year which both resulted in neck disc and levator pain. Hit from behind and hit on the driver side. Neither my fault.

I am either buying a chain or a watch. I don't own a chain, but would like to pick one up.

Thanks for showing me your Chains.

Anymore out there?

Traded in my gold chain for a Saint Christopher’s medal that had been blessed by the Pope at The Vatican.

For what is worth...buy a chain that is long enough to go over your head and have a jeweler install a link in place of the clasp.

Ya, I have been going back and forth between getting a gold chain or a watch. I have been eying a gold Omega Seamaster from the 90s.
If I was to get a gold chain I would probably prefer a Baht Chain. Those look pretty cool.
Decisions decisions decisions

If I could get away with it, I would.

While not gold, I’ve worn this SS necklace everyday since my wife gave it to me when our first daughter was born almost ten years ago. It just about never comes off. My girls like to tell me that the "Golden horse ran off!" Somehow he always finds his way home (on the clasp).

You and I are paddling the same boat. Wish I could pull it off.

BTW, that anchor chain above looks very very nice.

Here are 2 poor photos of mine. 18k handmade link. The chain itself is 30 inches long and 2.5mm thick. It weighs 36 grams even. The pendant weighs 42grams for a total weight of 78 grams. Sometimes it feels rather heavy around my neck. I've started to wear the chain as a bracelet (without the pendant) due to that.

I did a lot of research of where to get quality handmade gold chains years ago. I found Sarraf.com and purchased 2 chains (one for myself) and a bracelet from them. All 18k and all were totally as expected. Their handmade gold chains are basically the same price as a machine made chain. I felt that was a good buy

I have an 18" rope that I wear almost every day. 3mm or so and has some pretty good heft, coming in at 25 or so grams, I think. Was gifted it for my 18th birthday by my maternal grandmother who has since passed. And I wear it with a 2 reales pendant that my parents brought back from their first trip to Nassau.

I've played so many softball games in it, swam in many pools, oceans and seas over the years, graduated with it, got married a few times with it, wore it the day of the birth of my son... I'll take a pic when I get home. Turns out I'm wearing the backup WG micro chain with gold cross today. It's much lighter!
