Dilemma ROO 42mm vs WG Daytona on OF

Hey folks,

I am looking to pull the trigger on a sports watch and considering between the two:

1. The new ROO 42mm with ceramic bezel - black and red colorway.

2. Wg Daytona with oysterflex

They are quite similar in price... I think the WG daytona is a safer buy but that ROO is killer....

Could I get some opinions?

WG OF daytona, by a mile. Just after it was launched i picked a Ti ROO 44mm over it and have regretted it ever since.

I like the offshores a lot, but its the best daytona available IMO

I do really like the WG daytona but the no date really bothers me.
In the past I have owned no date watches but they didnt last too long in the collection. But at the same time purchasing a PM piece this year was one of my goals.

ROO wasn't really in consideration until last week when I tried it on @ the boutique. It was very striking and I was torn lol

The Daytona is a fantastic watch if you’ve got thin wrists and I especially like it on women. The AP is cool whichever way you look at it.

this is a very personal decision so there is no right answer. I went with the AP, but I personally don't love the layout of the Daytona.

FYI, changed out the two tone strap to all black rubber.

I'll pick the ROO 42mm with ceramic bezel over any Daytona. The black/red esp is growing on me. For me, the Daytonas are massively over-hyped watches.

Tough choice, I'd go with the AP unless you already have one.

FYI. I’ve had a similar dilemma to yours.

I was in the market for a ROO 42mm. More specially, the Diver. But because of small wrists, I had to look somewhere else.

I think I’m gonna go with Daytona 500.

But if you have bigger wrists than 6.5 inches, I’d go Offshore.

I went into the same Dilemma and eventually picked up the 42mm ROO Ghost. Having said that, if I don’t have a 116500 the result might be different.

i tend to prefer no date on a chrono.... however on a ROO it looks fine. Its the typical 4:30 placement i dont like

If it was not a WG OF daytona i would get the AP... even over a SS Daytona C at retail

There is no bad choice !

Both gorgeous watches. For me the ROO would be the one, but ultimately it depends what will give you the most pleasure to wear.

Another question... I'm curious whether AP will redo the whole 42mm offshoreline.
With the introduction of the thinner titanium version in 42mm, I get a sense that the line will see major changes next year.

I actually have/had both of those specific models and I just couldn't bond with the ROO so it was moved on to another enthusiast. The 116519 is by far my favorite piece to wear. The non-date doesn't bother me at all. It's just so much more comfortable than the ROO and although I love AP, the Daytona is just more aesthetically pleasing to me.

The CEs will come out, question is do they release only a few to help the Code or do they accept defeat and get many out to cover for it.

WG Daytona all day, any day. I must be getting old, because that AP hurts my eyes. What am I missing?

WG Daytona gets my vote. It’s my favorite dial of any Daytona by a mile. Can’t go wrong with either though.

is probably choose the Daytona over the Vampire, but there are many other ROOs that I would choose over the Daytona

I'd prefer seeing the ROO on my wrist.
I think that vampire is one of the best looking 42 mm ROOs, but wish it had an integrated, inhouse chrono movement with a column wheel.

The WG Daytona OF dial is very cool, but I find the main hands a little hard to see, and I'd prefer having a date function and not having screw-down buttons.
