Yes...which is a pity, since their styling looks good especially the carrera line but resale value very bad that's why i move to rolex

Tag Heuer Link, this is my first mechanical watch.
I really like this watch, I use it for all activities where I need a toolwatch: sport, scuba diving or soft work on a computer. During summer or for high temperatures, I like to replace the metal band with a NATO or a leather strap.
It looks like when I bought it, 3 years ago.

I bought a Grand Carrera GMT on bracelet in Grand Cayman last year. I'm generally not a fan of Tag, but the GC line is really exceptional, beautiful workmanship. I agree you'll take a big hit if you sell, but outside Rolex and just a few others that's always the case, too many cheap gray market watches out there. But as I bought from an AD at 25% off and no tax, which is the beauty of a family cruise twice a year, :), I'll take a hit, but it won't be too bad. Of all the Tags, the GC seems to do the best.

Question: Besides Rolex, what watches hold their value well?

Love their new Aquaracer caliber 5 (the 500m one). May get one next year after my bonus ... or lack thereof comes in.

I love your Grand Carrera. I must say it really does look beautiful but I don't understand why people turn their noses up at Tag Heuer watches. I own 3 the TT 2000 Professional & a Black Aquaracer WAF 1110. I liked the black one so much I bought a mint Blue Aquaracer WAF 1113 off ebay for less than half of the MSRP. I think Tag Heuer is a fine watch. Not everyone has the $$$ for a rolex. BTW your pictures are great.

I've owned 2 Aquaracers. I purchased my first one for around $1300 and sold it for about $900, 3 years later. Not bad.

HOWEVER, my current one is the COSC Aquaracer and I can't get rid of that one to save my life. Apparently, it's a keeper *lol*.

I wouldn't say I'll "never" buy another Tag, but I would think LONG & HARD about it before I do, simply because of the ridiculous drop in re-sale value.

This is my Midsize Tag Heuer Sports Elegance. I bought this in 1994. It has had 4 batteries and i only got it serviced for the very first time 3 weeks ago, it looks brand new and is over 16 years old. I will never get rid of it. I have flipped a Baume & Mercier Capeland and 3 Breitlings since then, now have the Tag and a Rolex S/S Daytona in Black!

Quick Tag Tale for ya: a friend of mine bought a Tag in the early 80's. (black sports watch, quartz mvt. & cost less than a grand.) He wore it for about a year, but lost it in his backyard during a massive blizzard. Finds it in the spring: wet & dirty but...still *running*! Impressive. I'm not a fan, but I love that square model w/the Gulf logo.=Mark=

I had a 1500 series (92) and flipped it for my SMP Bond. It was a fantastic watch that kept very accurate time. I would definitely get another Tag, in fact...

I have a Formula 1 Chronograph CAH1012.FT6026 on the way. :)

Cheers,
B.

I have 2 Tags, A day date aquaracer, and a monaco.
I feel that Tags are the more stylish watches but I also agree with their resale value, hence I still have them both.

I would love a grand carrera as well but am holding out for the new 1887 Carrera in white when it hits the land down under!

I have had a Tag since 1998 (Link ) before I moved to a Sub date in 2010. I can tell it's a very reliable watch and very solid. I smashed it many time against doors and wall and no scratch on the Sapphire.

It's one of my favorite watches.

I just purchased a new Aquaracer Calibre 5 (500 M blue face and bezel) and love it so far. Very substantial and built well. OK, not as well as my Milgauss but I didnt expect it at the $1550 I paid. :)

I'll write a review in the next few weeks but so far so good!

the wear on the bezel and bracelet indicates that the materials are not very high quality, which reinforces my negative feelings towards the brand.

Bought my first TH when I was in the military. It was a divers 200m for $150 (quartz). I have since bought a dress model (also quartz, Elegance series?!?) and a 18K YG automatic. They all still work just fine and keep good time. They're pretty tough and a good all-around watch imho.

I own two Tags: a Formula 1 Quartz w/ red dial I’ve had for a couple of years and an Aquaracer 500m (Dicaprio) Limited Edition Automatic with blue dial I’ve had since December ‘10. Love them both immensely, and actually the Formula 1 started my interest in watches. In an otherwise bland window display of estate jewelry, something with a blazing red color grabbed my attention, and that was it. And I’m not an impulse buyer!
I just picked up the blue rubber strap for the Aquaracer for the summer, and the watch looks even more striking (and it weighs much less). IMO it’s one of the most attractive blue dials out there, and the unique textured bezel makes it even better. I often look at it and have no idea what time it is.
Both watches keep great time, and to me are very handsome & eye catching pieces. Tag has some wonderful designs. Resale value wasn’t a factor in either purchase because I have no intention of selling them. I’d absolutely recommend a Tag, and for anyone who’s looking I’d advise you to check out one of their outlet stores, as they have pretty good discounts.

I heard through my AD that tag is trying to move up-market, and come out with some more in-house movements. I tried on a tag priced at over 10k.....I couldn't see myself paying over 10k for a tag IMHO!

I love Tag Heuer. My first automatic was a Link Calibre 5, and with this baby I became a watch lover.
After that came a Seamaster and a Sub, but you never forgot your first love!!!

Another Tag that I love is the Carrera....

Did you not read that this watch is over 20 years old? It appears to have been dragged behind a car and you say the materials are bad?

I have a Kirium Formula 1 that I bought in 2005. I recently sent it to the Tag Service Centre for a no obligation assessment. The watch was working fine, but I figured after 6 years maybe the seals should be replaced. The assessment came back... $800!!!! I said no thanks and that I wear my Rolex Sea Dweller Deepsea most of the time now anyway.

No more Tags for me :(

í have Tag Carrera Chrono Day Date , black face, im wearing it daily for the last two years, it was my wedding gift to myself :) . lovely automatic 42 mm chrono with very nice styling, SS bracelet. saphire front and back, like the red line on the chrono puch and the black one on the crown, face is nice with lovely beveled numbers, with race DNA. works very fine, 28800 vibes, i think its movement is an ETA 7750 with some custom parts, like swinging weight, and some bridges cosmetic works , it takes all the beating , 100 meter water resist without locks on puchers , makes it practical i use chrono alot, (when i make coffe, almost every day) . the only thing i had , is that there is a black end cap on the crown that got lost, at that time it was still under dealer warranty (2 years) and the AD replaced my crown under it.

some say TAG lose mony , well it had a couple of price increase since, even if it does, so do all Vacheron constantine and JLC, Patek , and all the top watches. you want investment, buy gold bars. a wrist watch is not an investment. and i dont think of selling my wedding gift , and my first "real"watch". over all , after two years now , im still loving it. among all TAGs (except Monaco V4) i still think its the best they put on. i might get another watch though.
