I've done a search of this forum for the Rolex Yeager wore on his historic sound-breaking flight.
I haven't found anything as definitive as I'd like.

Does anyone know the exact model and have a picture of it?

Whatever it was, it was the same watch that he wore through WWII. I know that much.

Rumor has it that Rolex has NEVER made any Chuck Yeager editions of the Rolex. The ones circulating around are speculated to be replicas.

Here's Jocke's tribute to Chuck Yeager, a couple of years ago he very kindly allowed me to have the image enlarged and laminated as a birthday gift for my son.

As you probably know, Gen. Yeager wears a GMT Master and has since the mid-1960's. If he wore the watch that he wore im WW II, it would have to be some sort of bubbleback or other fairly early oyster model. The GMT's came out in the early 1950's and Yeager broke the sound barrier in 1947. Pete Knight wore a GMT Master on his record-breaking flight in an X-15 in 1967. The only information I've seen regarding Gen. Yeager's Rolex was that is was a Rolex Oyster.

Nancy's amazing when it comes to ferreting out this kind of stuff. She also gave me a never worn Rolex Goodwood Revival vintage motor racing event necktie in a cool Rolex branded box, lined with tissue paper with "Rolex" embossed on it.

Just last week I saw a Chuck Yeager Rolex for sale in Tokyo.

The store is a specialist Rolex dealer with a solid reputation. Satin Doll is the name of the store. They have numerous branches all over Japan.

The watch was in the window marked at Yen750,000 about US$7500.00

I was intrigued by the double name and took a very good look. Did not even know that Rolex made the GMT Master with the Chuck Yeager name till I did a seach on Google.

They didn't, read the entire post.
Its a fake.
If you visit a dealer that is trying to sell it
as a real Rolex then start using a new dealer.

Update on the Chuck Yeager Rolex in Japan.

The watch is a genuine Rolex. But the letters "Chuck Yeager" was done with a laser printing system as an after market add on. About 100 were made.

Of course if you take this to Rolex Japan for service, it will come back without the CY dial.

Under Japanese trademark laws, they replace all tampered dials with an original Rolex dial, then charge you for this service.
