if the trouble and strife (wife) knew i spend 600 dollars on a ring of aluminum that cost at best 1.50 to produce, i would be led by my ear to the nearest Hermes Store for some financial pain by the missus. she askes....i say 6 bills......nothing more.....nothing less. she has yet to ask for clarification. I hear you! There's no justifying it, but remember a stamp that was literally a penny to buy, and cost a fraction of that to print (Penny Black/Red), can go for hundreds of thousands...

If the real price gets out, tell her the truth that it will never depreciate and most likely will appreciate in the future. That might help to lighten some of the blows.
