I'll venture an opinion that the likelihood of the US govt going after one of us for falsifying that document is probably pretty low. No one in this country, governmentwise would have lost any money due to this infraction so it probably takes a low priority.

The fact is that when I have filled out customs forms I sign a statement acknowledging that I am guilty of perjury if I falsify the value of the contents.

What would be good is if people in the countries where these high import duties are imposed would stand up and demand that they are reformed out of existence. If they are unfair then they should be eliminated.

I'm a collector so have only been on the receiving end..but really not sure it matters. If you are the seller you are still party to the fraud.

None of the services I use, including Parcel Pro allow different valuations.

This defies common sense as well...if its worth $x then the customs value is $x

There is a major insurer that does this, but it is not Parcel Pro.

I'm sure we'd have heard of plenty of examples of all these european countries secret agents buying watches for the country to sell for profit...

Some European countries may have some financial problems but a doubt the profit made by selling a few rolex will solve their hunderds of billion dollar debts.
