This 1680 red original?

Hi, i am looking for a red 1680 and ebay pop up one that looks nice. Not sure if it is all original but it is with paper as well.

Thanks for the expert input.
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/391495721492

Hard to tell with the pics not being crisp. Do you have more?

The pics in the listing are all I can see, but two points I felt strange:
1. certificate don't have the green surrounding, didn't know if it is special for USA or not.
2. the wording shape on "REGISTERED DESIGN 1680" / "STAINLE.. 30259.." looks different from what I can find in web. And they even didnt looks worn/wash out.

do they look strange?

The cert seems off.....should be a green surround at this point. Text looks clean....almost too clean for a 40 yo watch
Crown guards look off to me. I dont see the defined "[ ]" on the top profile or bottom profile of the crown guard base on the case. The text looks fine...i have seen the flat g and pointed a on another case before. Other experts will chime in at this point.

I can't tell you if it is good or not, it looks like a nice example.
If I was in the market for a vintage I would only buy from trusted and well known vintage experts or fellow forum members. You pay a premium but there is so much monkey business in the vintage trade going on ....

The Guarantee booklet appears to be 100% genuine. It is not a single paper but a booklet which was used from the late 1960s to very early 1970s.

I do not see any issues with the watch based on the photos.

I hope so; if not, he shouldn't have bid so high!

Just kidding, yes if all is correct it's a good buy.

Sounds like excellent advice. Don't understand why guys "gamble" on such expensive items.

Nicely refinished case. Decent bracelet. Non standard guarantee cert....write what you want about the paperwork but 99% of the subs i have seen in the 3mm series have green border certs. At 14.7 it is a good deal. Most are in the high teens with "paperwork."

Dial looks gorgeous. Hands look great. 14.7 plus about a grand to ship and customs and you have a nice specimen for just shy of 16k. Great deal.

Just because you haven't seen that warranty booklet before doesn't mean there are any issues with it. I've seen it many times. There is nothing incorrect about it all. There are many types and variations of warranty papers and guarantee booklets.

The one in the photos from the ebay auction was used during the same era that the Submariner was from.

I never wrote that i have never seen the paperwork before. I have. Quite a few times. Normally handwritten from what i recall. I prefer more the standard papers that i commonly see associated with that model. Probable vs. possible. Anything is possible....i prefer to swim in the probable pool. Just my opinion. that is all. Also, i see a translation document in the booklet.....would that document not be for a green bordered cert.....i don't know the text on the inside of the guarantee booklet but i though those translation docs normally went with the green bordered certs for translation.

Im far from an expert on 1680's but I don't see any glaring issues.
