First Rolex- what a revelation!

Hi folks at the Rolex forum,

I received an incredible surprise about a month ago when the company I work for gave me an anniversary gift- a Rolex watch. Nothing short of fascinating in history, the mechanics, and the sheer beauty of these little machines!

The actual watch I received was a SS 'date' model 115200 with black dial and stick markers which was cool. I was encouraged to visit Ben Bridge with the option to exchange. I drove downtown expecting to simply get it sized and that would be that. Went into the store and immediately saw a watch that looked similar to mine but with roman numerals. All of a sudden I'm thinking, wow maybe I will have to reconsider. I didn't know at the time that it was a 'datejust' until Babette pointed that out. I'm a 6' 1" guy and the larger watch looked right on my wrist and that roman dial just looked so cool. (It cost $200 to upgrade) Since then I've been reading a lot of Rolex history and the rich history of the datejust. I think I made the right decision!

Cheers, Tim

Welcome Tim. Great looking watch!!

I've had 25 anniversaries from my company and all I got was a radio for my desk.

Must be a very nice company, congrats! In my company I probably need to work at least 100 years to get a Rolex.

An excellent choice.

With the new (well newish) style bracelet expect the watch to be looking as good as the top picture in 30 years time.

Welcome to this forum, it's excellent.
Didn't wait for bonus, I quit company and started my own.
Later rewarded myself with a GMT.
