Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Question. Damaged?

Hello everyone,

First time member here and hoping I can get anyone's opinion and help.

I received my Royal Oak as a graduation gift when visiting Paris and have owned it for a year and some.

I accidentally dropped my watch -- thankfully in the travel case provided by AP -- and came across the following problems.

- When using the watch after the watch has been idle for a month or so, the time seemed to be going faster and going ahead 3 minutes. This seems to only occur when I use the watch after a long period of time, but seems to be fixed when using it more often. I provided a video below.

- When i try to set the time, the minute hand seems to have a delay when turning the crown.

- When i try to set the time, the Seconds hand seems to twitch when setting the time. (around the 0:08 second mark)

- when i push the crown back into place, the minute hand has a tendency to "bounce" (0:25 second mark)

I know when i purchased it there was that "delay" when turning the crown, but did not make anything of it because I was so excited..

If there are any questions or anything I can provide, let me know!

Everyone's help is much appreciated. Thank you.

The small amount of play in the crown before the minute hand moves is normal.

I have the bounce and I have the play. My watch is brand new. If you turn the crown and stop right before the hand moves, and then push, it won't bounce.

Thank you!

as for the other problems -- second hand being "loose" when adjusting the time and the minute hand "bumping" at moments when pushing in the crown -- is it worth noting that it is a "problem" and would recommend sending it in?

As mentioned above. The trick to not geting the minute hand to "bounce" when pushing the crown in is always to set the time by going forward. Some movements (maybe only older ones?) can actually get damaged by the bump that happens when minute hand has been set by going in reverse and then engaged when pushing in the crown. Pretty sure it doesn't cause damage on modern ones but alot of watchmakers still recommends only setting time forward.

Hey guys came across something again (or at least started noticing this..

When I use the watch after it not being used for a good month, the Seconds hand is moving FASTER than the usual. within a minute and a half, the watch has already gone 2 or more minutes ahead..

Again, I dropped my watch in the personal traveler box, which I mentioned before and questioned any damages.

Is this something I should consider sending in for repair/examination?

Yes, and maybe you should learn how not to be so clumsy – it’ll save you a fortune in the long run!

Send it in to APSC it's clearly running too fast.
