In your opinion?... Lol, Ken we are getting into objective opinion range here, what a sick line-up. The Datograph (up/down, but I won't get picky) is most certainly my grail at the moment.

I not saying that Patek is not on a different level in term of the finished product when compared to Rolex but using the term "mass produced" is a shot at the quality that goes into making a Rolex. It's an assembly line reference. As far as your comparison of Mercedes with Aston Martin you are way off. You obviously know nothing of cars other than one is produced in smaller quantities so it must be better in terms of quality. While Aston Martins are nice cars and in some cases are pricier than most Mercedes you cannot compare overall engineering and quality to a Mercedes. The English will NEVER catch the Germans in this industry.

I love chronos...in fact, more than half of my collection consists of Chronographs. In my opinion, the Speedmaster is #1

I nearly went for the ceramic version of the JLC diver chrono. I ended up getting the IWC, as I'm a sucker for the propeller hands and simplicity. But the JLC still calls to me, strongly. Gorgeous in steel or ceramic.

The modern Daytona is one of the most sorted simple chronograph movements around, and the Daytona is one of Rolex's prettiest. But there are others more worthy.

My collection currently has 6 chronographs (3 ROOs, 2 daytonas and a 5170g) - I almost always go for one of my ROOs when I get up each day. I just love the look and feel of them on my wrist.

I don't know if Daytona is king. But I really like mine and find it great for almost every occasion.

Specifically the SS Daytona is king, and nothing else is even close.

Dear Kenneth,
When it comes to watches you are an impossible act to follow bar none. Your taste and collection over the years has been nothing short of impeccable. Base on my offerings I can only say that the Daytona movement is the best chronograph movement ever produced even though my Speedmaster (now my sons) went to the moon (but then so did Rolex). I expect you have had a few watches that you wish you still owned? Especially that Daytona? Hint: it's on the LHS. E.

I have a Daytona and an Omega Speedmaster and I like both. The Speedmaster is the better chrono. The face is clear and beautiful and a delight to read. The Daytona may be mechanically superior but the chrono dial is very difficult to read. That has to be a major fault in a chronograph.

The legibility of the original Speedmaster is unbeaten - so here no throne for the crown!
