First AP For Me

Hi, all. I just wanted to show off my new 15400 that I received today. After trying one on during a recent Caribbean vacation, this watch has been haunting me and I am very happy to say it's now mine. My thanks to Takuya for a very smooth deal on this brand new J series.

I must say that even after trying it on first, after reading posts and looking at photos I grew a little apprehensive that its 41mm size might actually be too big. It seemed a little silly, I've worn Panerai and the even the 45mm Planet Ocean before so I wasn't 'that' worried. But, perhaps my eyes were tricking me when I tried it on previously because it seemed like such a good fit then. Some of the photos and comments were a little off putting to say the least. But, no, the worry was unfounded. I have about a 7-3/4 inch wrist and I tell you this thing fits my wrist like a glove, if that makes any sense.

This thing is so classy. I am very happy with it and look forward to wearing it more.

One question, well, a few...
At the risk of sounding newbish, I am used to wearing Rolex watches where there are no worries around water. Since this watch is rated at 50m, how careful should I be? For example, is it ok to dunk it under running water with soap and a toothbrush in the sink to clean it? What about swimming and hot tubs? Also, the warranty book said I need to send it in for water resistance check "within 24 months after purchasing it for the warranty to be valid". Seriously? OK, what's the best practice for when to do this? Any chance this watch is going to have water resistance issues right out of the box?

Thanks for the help.

Happy to be in the AP club!

Post more pictures! Also you don't need to send for waterproof check anymore. Just register it online for 3rd year warranty.

You can definitely do those water-related activities, YES (ie washing w toothbrush to clean, swimming.)
However, I wouldn't do two things:
1. Dive with it
2. You mentioned hot tubs. Don't do that... don't do saunas or steam rooms either. With ANY watch. It's NOT about water resistance, my friend. Instead, it's about the heat causing rubber gaskets/O-rings (seals) to Swell and change shape over time, which may lead to water entering the watch at some point in the future! ;)

Go here to open an online account and register your watch. That gets you covered for the 3rd year warranty. No need to send it in anymore.
Congrats on a very nice AP!

Welcome to the club!

Good going man, that's a real beauty. I recently just bought mine so I know exactly how smitten you are with it :)

After buying it I also had the same questions as you regarding water resistance. The guys on the forum confirmed it's totally fine to wash it under the tap, and I did mine for the first time last week, and all good. Having said that I won't wear it to the pool, beach or anywhere like that. Have the Rolex for that.

All the best and wear it in best of health!
