Thanks for cleaning the thread up but let me just say, I had no knowledge of the context of the comments made by newrolexs to wdalew and saw only the response by wdalew. As I understand now they were quite insulting. However, I still believe wdalew's reply about someones criminal record was improper. He could have replied by PM and reported the insulting post to a moderator for their handling. Insulting each other in open forum is wrong no matter who does it.

I'm not a LEO but my future father-in-law, brother-in-law, and 4 of my fiance's cousins are. I want to say thanks for all the service. I love hearing all the stories. LOL

X2! On all counts, well put Greg. As my post stated, I did have distaste for a lot of LEOs, I won't re-hash the reasons why, but I respect the HELL out of each and every one of you! There is no way I could do your job, I am very grateful for LEOs and even the ones I don't like, I salute and thank you! |

Thanks for all the nice commemts!!! We have a crummy job much of the time but every once in awhile someone says something nice to us. I'm in my 20th year and to be honest I wouldn't do it again. Too much internal strife in the departments, too many complainants ask us for the impossible, and too many midnights, weekends, and holidays make home life difficult at best. Let me be clear, I'm not complaining, I knew what I was getting into when I signed up. There are many crummy jobs out there besides LE!!!!! Knowing what I know now, I would have taken a different path. PS, I have many nice things in my life. A fantastic wife, a beautiful baby, and lastly more than my fair share of nice possessions.

I am a reserve LEO for a small villages PD here in MI, I give them my time and my only compensation is the thanks from the residents and they are really very appreciative.
I have only done a few shifts so far and just also did a shift for a large biker festival that happens in our village... I have worn my Rolex Exp II, ND Sub and my IWC Ti Aquatimer chrono all while on duty and the Aquatimer really got put through its endurance testing at the biker fest.... I do not have a DD yet but when I get one I would not wear it while on a shift.

If the thread title calls for "LEO only", why would someone non-LEO come on the thread just to crap all over it? If I see a "Yellow Haired Homosexual only" thread, I don't even think of clicking on it, nor would I be critical of those members who are yellow haired homosexuals.
With that said, I believe public service is an admirable profession and I'm thankful that I have a few LEO's that I can call friends. To all those in public service (including the armed services) who are doing the best they can do, cheers! |

Thank you guys and gals who protect and serve me! Even to the ones that gave me tickets... I deserved it I went on a ride-a-long once, and it's crazy! I read the book about "Emotional Survival for Law Enforcement" as well, and I have to say, if you're a LEO or family of, and you haven't read this book, you HAVE to read it!

I wore my trusty TAG 2000 (ne, Aquaracer now) but I also had a Timex Ironman with a velcro strap in case it got hung up on something. I was often concerned about de-gloving injuries, but thankfully it never happened. I toyed with idea of something with a non-reflect crystal but decided that if I was to lose my life because of a crystal that sparkled at the wrong moment, well that was my own damn fault. I frequently turned it inside out or slapped a piece of tape over it.
i often wondered how citizens would feel if they saw a Rolex or Omega on my wrist. Beefeaters reborn, perhaps? Anyway I never wanted my wrist to be a conversation piece. The suspect's wrists? That's a different story... In the words of the most famous Desk Sgt of all time: "Let's be careful out there, people" Strength and Honor. **** Oh, and next time you are pulled over, hit the hazards immediately, that way LEO knows you are not trying to run. I had motor cop (harley) pull me over one time. He was a little miffed when I drove two blocks out of my way. When he asked why I said "So you would be safe dismounting". Totally changed his attitude. And no, he never found out who I used to work for. |

My son is a LEO, very proud dad here (^_^), and I brought him a "G-Shock" and I was proud to do it... He is a newbee, working street patrol.
If he wants a Rolex or something, he has to buy his own... :D Thanks for all the support for the LEO's... |

I am a retired LEO. When in patrol, I wore a G-Shock. I worked undercover for 8 years and didnt wear a watch, and was a full time SWAT/ Team Leader Sniper for 10 years and wore the G-Shock again. Would have probably raised some eyebrows if I had been wearing one of my Rolex's to work, not to mention how beat up they would have been. Even though I worked at the highest paid agency in the state, I never saw any officer, Detective or the Chief wear anything more than a Tag. My SWAT Commander wore a Tag.

I've been fighting crime and cheating death 14 years. Had one Rolex or another the entire time, currently the 16610 LV sees the action everyday. My peace of mind comes from having it on a NATO band. The only grief I get is from some of my fellow SWAT guys, and that is just jealously.
I have even carried a Monte Blanc pen my entire career....seeing the finer things keeps me sane in the ghetto I would like to say thanks to my brothers and sisters in blue that stand tall next to me in the never ending fight. |

Coming up on 9 years and I never had the nerve to wear it. Dept. reimbursement wouldn't even cover the clasp. G-Shocks were made for a reason.

I have worn my Rolex 16610 on patrol everyday since I bought it new in 1999. Never had an issue wearing it. Now I am a Criminal Investigator and I just bought a new Breitling that I swap out the Rolex with.

In my 27 years of LE, I wore a couple different SS Sub's and a SS Daytona for many years out in the field. I wore them when I was on Motor Patrol, I wore them when I was a Road Officer and for many years when I was pretending to not be an Officer.. They always held up very well. They got a few battle scars, but nothing to bad.

Amen! I think all LEO's are underpaid, just like teachers!! You all risk your lives daily for the rest of us. I used to be an ER Nurse and I have always respected and admired all of the men and women I dealt with who were in Law Enforcement!!!

My only observation is that it would have been nice for the OP to simply call out for LE personnel to share their Rolex stories rather than make the thread "LE Only", propagating the "Us vs. Them" attitude that exists in the minds of many in the LE community.
Buying a durable, accurate long lasting watch like a Rolex is a commonsense move for anyone IMHO, LE personnel included. Stay safe and thank you for your public service, particually during the holidays when many give up family time for the job.
