Table Explosion

Check this out, I'm in the office yesterday and hear a crack/bang. Not crazy loud, not even enough for me to get out of my chair.

A couple hours later I walk into our confrence room and the glass top in our confrence room had just exploded. It was a huge top 4'x10' and 1" thick frosted in white.

Pics are great, but this is how I found the table

The room is big and some of the smaller pieces were shot like 20 feet away in spray patterns radiating out from the corners of the table-

Or a sudden drop in the table top! That nobody will confess to...

Could it have been a bad reaction to some cleaning product?

We have no idea, only two of us were in the office and the other guy was much farther away and did not even hear it.

Dropped, no...it weighs like 300 pounds.

Cleaning products, no, we have had it for almost a year and the same people have been cleaning it the whole time.

The glass company and the interior designer will be by today to check it out

It's known as spontaneous glass breakage and is not uncommon, I've had it happen to a table of my own.

I suddenly have the urge of not working anywhere near this office (or building for that matter...)!

Glad to know at least no one got hurt!

Just saying.
