Hope you have better days, I've been there before.
With that, do what I do, tell "no sh@t there I was stories" and live vicariously through others, shoot I'm an Olympian every four years, next month I'll be speed skating for the gold.....

Craig,
Yes, it was a goal to reach 50mph before I turned 50. Took a little extra effort to remove my shorts after that ride.

But my most epic ride was 10,000 ft. up Mt. Haleakala in Maui (another pre 50 goal).

Was it the climb to the top of a high enough hill that made your shorts so hard to remove after reaching 50 mph descending? By the way, major kudos for Mt. Haleakala! [thumbs up!]

Thanks!

No, two different rides. The top speed was done at a location I had scoped out specifically for the attempt. It didn't last long but my spotter [who incidentally stopped a car from crossing my path] said he could hear me but couldn't see me. I've ridden many times over 40mph but 52.2 scared the $#it out of me.

I'd been to Maui the two previous years and finally decided I had to climb that damn volcano on my third consecutive visit. It took 5 hours and 4 minutes to climb the 38 miles to the top with a total elevation of 10,023ft. The decent took about an hour and a half due to so many switchbacks. Speeds frequently reached over 40 mph down the straights but at one turn I feared going right over the side. I slowed considerably after that and we took time to reflect on an epic ride.

It may not be recognized as a sport, per-se, but at 47 y.o. slinging a 14 lb. bass guitar and playing very fast, very loud music is truly exhausting.

Arthritis or do you need a knee replacement or other surgery?
