If you have the means, why not? The sooner you get it, the sooner you'll start to enjoy it. Go for it.

I tend to agree to not buy over MSRP. I have the new blnr on jubilee and no date sub. Started in 2018, never payed over retail. I can not do that, it is just not logical (spock reference). Furthermore, one small hickup in the economy and prices will drop significantly, eg Brexit is coming! Next argument, people buying over Retail are artificially sustaining the market. I myself do not agree with the prices, at 17k for a pepsi you can buy haute horlogery!!! Don’t get me wrong, Rolex builds very accurate and stable movements/watches but open up the back and compare to other high end brands and you will see it is not decorated that well. Rolex is in this for the toughness, reliability and accuracy. They won’t win a a beauty contest with their movements :-) my 2 cents

It's a cool piece but not worth the 100% premium over retail price greys are asking for, IMHO. Your money, your decision.

I'm still waiting for mine from my local AD. It's either that or nothing.

Also, Rolex could release something more interesting at this BaselWorld 2020.

I think whether it is “worth it” or not is relative to what you are willing to spend. If you want it right now, just go for it. I thought the Daytona ceramic was expensive at 15k, welp two years later, it is worse :p

If you want to wear it today, go for it!

Yes, if you want it, why not go for it? But yet again you might be over paying for something that might not be worth it or might be half the price in a short time. So just take a bottle of beer and wait up.

If you want it, you can pay it, and it is your only watch for yourself, buy it, and enjoy this magnificent watch, you can also buy a Root Beer that is still much prettier. lose money in the future? ..... there are people who buy Omega, IWC, Blancpain and as soon as you leave the AD you have already lost money

Well, you can certainly buy for more than MSRP easily. Selling for more than MSRP (quickly and safely) is a completely different matter. With a 80% bid/ask spread, "market price" is a pretty fuzzy concept (BLNR shown as example, but expect Pepsi to be in the same ballpark).

I buy new at any AD ,as a rule .Recently bought a M serial 16613 in great condition on a Black Friday special from a used dealer .(Black Friday special on Rolex ? Weird but true)

The Pepsi @ Grey pricing :
Personally ,I wont ,BUT even at Grey pricing it is most likely to keep its value and rise in value over time.

So,if that is what you want ,go for it .(I would stick to bnib, box, papers )

Imho only those who cannot comfortably afford an unnecessary luxury watch are the ones whining so much about the current market.

A few thousand is hardly a significant amount for a life time of enjoyment for others.
All comes down to the size of your wallet.

There is no tomorrow, why on earth wait, enjoy your watch

Such consternation...if you need to be talked out of it, don’t do it.
If a few thousand dollars is a big deal to you, then definitely don’t do it.
Personally, I never consider resell values on these playthings. I don’t care if they become worthless tomorrow, and certainly have never viewed them as investments. Ask yourself what would you rather have for similar money. If nothing else comes up, then buy the Pepsi and enjoy it.

If you really want the watch and have the resources to buy it then go for it. Great watch and you will enjoy it. In the end it is about ownership and wear.

If you want it, you can't get onto a list and you have the grey price at your disposal, then buy it. It's your life, your money and your watch - possibly.

Conversely, if there is a doubt there is no doubt. Why are you hesitating?

For the price, I would venture into Royal Oak line.

If it fits your budget, it is the finest watch in the current a Rolex catalogue... as others have said, it will be made for 10 years... so get it now, and rock the coolest hottest watch there is for the next 10 years!

If I really wanted a Pepsi I would buy the 5 digit. Get the full set and can’t go wrong.

If you can afford it, why not??? Money comes and goes but your time is limited on this earth. Forget others value system as it isn’t a factor to your lifestyle.

Influencing something personal is not my cup of tea. My advice though is to buy the watch that sings best to your heart. Good luck!

It's a time value of money question. If the time spent going to the stores, browsing photos, playing the AD game etc costs more than the premium, just pay the premium. Like paying a ticket scalper or the days of old where you pay someone to stand in line at the Apple store for you.

FWIW, I made the 'painful' decision to pay up for a white Daytona, hated paying the premium back while it was still around 20k, but haven't regreted it since. My AD still has not been able to procure one despite a large purchase history. So rather than get annoyed at the games, I just enjoy the watch and move on with life. The retail experience is so bad at this point, my mind has moved onto AP.

Lots of others may rightly say never pay up, but if for example you're billable hours are say $500 an hour and you spend 20 hours thinking about it...then you might as well have just enjoyed the watch without thinking about it. Besides crazy watch forums like this, no one in the real world is going to bother to ask if you sourced it from an AD or if you paid someone to source it for you.

I would feel better waiting and paying msrp and feeling good about my purchase, then paying grey prices and hoping the market doesn’t shift, which it will. Don’t go for instant gratification
