DSSD owner, just removed divers extension....

..and wow!!!!

What an incredibly noticable difference in both comfort and wearability.

I have read several reports recommending this, but was amazed to see how much of a difference it actually made.

It's coming into summer here in the Southern Hemisphere, so that means when I am in the ocean I won't be wearing a wetsuit.

If you have a DSSD, and have little to no need of the divers extension, I totally recommend having it removed, as it seems to make a huge difference to the wearability of the watch.

How to remove diver extension on Submariner

Does anyone have guided instructions on how exactly to remove the diver extension on a Rolex Submariner?

The 6-digit Submariners don't have this type of diver's extension.
The OP is referring to the "wetsuit" extension on the DSSD and the SD43.

Yes...removing the diver's extension is KEY for getting the DSSD to wear very comfortably. Congrats!

Yes, completely agree. I removed the fliplock after 2 weeks of wearing it, and it immediately became more comfortable. I've never looked back.

Deep sea clasp

I have both the JC and black version first generation. I removed the divers extension on the JC and then two years later when I purchased the black dial version I left the diver extension in place. My preference is to wear it with the extension in place.just my two cents.

The divers extension is on the clasp, pull up to adjust? I love that feature, it’s the easiest adjustment on all my pieces. How do you replace it, all new clasp?

The Divers extention people are referring to is located under the back end of the clasp. It's the long folding out part which is effectively an extention to, and attached to the end of the bracelet on the 12 o'clock side which is held on by screws.

It's not part of the clasp itself

Same here on my short-lived 116660. And exactly the same on my SD43 incidentally.

The DSSD took me the longest of any watch I've ever owned to get it comfortable. Removing the diver's extension was the first (and most important step).

removing the diving extension from a SD is some kind of blasphemy, imho. And... I got a SDDS with the extension on, and I don't have any issue with comfort and wearability at all.

Never found my DSSD to be uncomfortable in the slightest.
