Rolex deepsea 126660 diver extension removal yes or no??

Called into my ad today to try on a deepsea to decide if i wanted to go ahead and purchase one,as soon as it was on my wrist i knew i had to have it,ad said mine should arrive this side of christmas so cant wait for maybe a early Christmas present to myself.
My ad said i will probably need 2 to more then likely 3 links removed,so he suggested taking out the diver extension first and going from there, now i have read several threads about removing the extension, but would be nice to hear opinions from either side on whether its a good idea to remove the extension first,or just leave it in and just remove the links only

I had mine removed the day I collected my DBlue... I’m never likely to wear it with a diver suit so made sense for me and it seems to site better on my wrist. I did however need to get an extra link which was provided FOC.

Oh yea, remove it. You won’t ever need it and it reduces needless weight.

FYI. Make sure they use the proper screwdriver. You should expect them to remove the links with zero marks or scratches to the screws or links.

I don't own a Deepsea and never knew removing that was a thing. Learn something new everyday, thanks TRF!

I removed it as it would not allow me to adjust the clasp fully.

It is part of the specificities of that watch. SCs typically refuse to remove those extensions. I kept the one on my SD4k (and yes I do not dive). Enjoy your beauty

Do you dive? If so would you dive with it?

Removed it from my SD4k. More comfortable and not needed for swimming in the pool!
Sits in the box with the papers.

Best to try both with it on and then off to decide if it is a big deal for you.

Taken on face value and based upon the AD's recommendation that you may benefit from the removal of 3 links.
I would say that their assessment and recommendation to start with the Diver's extention is sound.
In other words the watch is huge on you and your wrist size and shape will determine the best fit starting with the extention.

Ditto.
And the shape and size of the factory arrangement suits my wrist shape perfectly with the entire clasp assembly perfectly centered.

When I had an early DSSD removing the divers link wasn’t widespread. Fast forward to last year when I examined a friend’s with it removed. Visually it looks less bulky and if you’re never going to use it take it out.

I wouldn't. I prefer to leave a dive watch with its bracelet intact. Each to his own, great watch either way

I had mine removed prior to them fitting it to my wrist when I purchased my SD43.

I removed mine on my 126660, 126600, and 116660. The subtle change in the clasp shape/length with its removal allows me to get a nicer fit. As any diving I'm doing is around Florida or Bahamas, I have no need to wear my watch over any dive suit.

That has been my experience. The RSC refused to remove the extension on both my SD43 and Deep Blue.

While they both fit alright, I think they would fit better with this removed, but I’ve been too lazy to head over to my AD to get this done

I wear my SD43 with the diver extension for 6 months and then I remove it, a lot of difference on fit and comfort. Remove it.

+1

It made it a lot easier to centre the clasps too.
