This is one of the reasons that keto is quite popular now. You don’t need to count calories, you simply drop the carbs below 50g a day. It’s about hormones and how you body reacts to the amount of carbs, proteins and fats you take in.

And I’d probably argue that BreguetRolex had great success with his weight loss was more to do with his new diet which is low carb, than it is to the amount of exercise he is doing.
Maybe you lost 25lbs of muscle?

I gotta say, the math isn’t adding up for me, but I am not an expert. Whatever you did is obviously working so if your new diet/lifestyle is working for you and you feel good, I say keep it up.

The only way I could lose 25 pounds of muscle is if my head fell off.

Actually I've been Paleo for 10 years and was just experimenting with keto for 6 months last year. Now I cycle in and out of keto by raising and lowering carbs a few times a week to stay fat adapted to play sports without having to carb up. So my primary fuel source is fat, not glucose (carbs).

I'd never recommend keto to someone because it takes a lot of discipline and knowledge about macros but if they wanted to try it I'd recommend paleo for 6 months to learn what to eat to be healthy and then once there, all they'd have to do is drop the carbs from 100-150 grams a day down to 50g. Everything else would pretty much stay the same.

I think as long as a person has a good diet and eats real food it's no big deal to eat almost anything once in a while.

Interestingly though when you eat real food and have good habits you rarely want the sugar stuff and sodas anymore.

I eat chocolate almost every day. It's the 90% kind which is actually good for you. After getting used to the 80-90% stuff eating the cheap lower stuff no longer tastes that good.

Lindt 90% is my go-to chocolate, one or two small pieces a week keeps me happy. All the other stuff just tastes too sugary now And it is indeed healthy for you

Yes I sure agree with you on that. I have found that no longer do I miss some of that nasty processed garbage I use to eat. I sure love working on a nice pizza or a basket of bench fries satisfies my quench for "RUBBISH" Food..! :)

I'm sure it's all muscle

Halfway through the year! I've been more active in the gym 3-4 days a week, trained and completed a half marathon, and been keeping up with Bikram yoga.

Second half I will do a full marathon and a yoga challenge of completing 34 classes in 30 days.

I know I'm still 170-175, but I feel more fit and limber.

Edit background from previous posts restated: I went from 205 to 135 over a number of years but mainly it went 205 to 195 to 185 and then I got fed up and just dieted with 1500 calories and thirty minutes of working out and cut to 135 which was lighter than my fighting weight of 145 and par with my high school weight of 155.

I gained about 30 pounds in spring and began lifting more and working on the physical endurance and performance aspect. I have pushed myself in that regard harder than I have in about 5 years. Consisting of engaging different core groups with 30min - 1 hr worth of elliptical-ling each morning burning about 250-550 calories. I max out the resistance and change elevation, 1 per workout to limit stress on back and knees vs a treadmill.

I then target ~3-5 related muscle group sets of 3-5 sets of adjustable free weights throughout each day. I throw in some 8 min abs and maybe 5-10 minutes of soft exercise like yoga, meditation and/or stretching including some light positional movement, e.g. kicking and punching stretching/speed movements.

I have started to cut cycle now. I'm down to a fairly lean 155, which is about 20 pounds over my low of 135. I think I have about 10-15 pounds to go and that cycle should give me about 5-7 more pounds hopefully muscle but I won't know since my body-fat-scale got thrown as a side effect of the the glacial speed I have been moving stuff out of my parents house. Which I have just addressed with this $20 bathroom scale that measures "weight, body fat percentage, muscle mass, water weight and your BMI" with bluetooth sync'ing into various apps -- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DHSSND5

Bumping the thread to see how everyone's summer is going.

I'm down to 192 lbs - pushing for 180 at some point - no rush - just letting it come off via healthy eating. This is week 4 of no alcohol which was a big change for us. We use to have 3-4 bottles of wine a week and I'd have vodka waters on the other nights.

Started 19 Jun 19 - 106.6 kg (235lb)
12 Aug 19 - 100.6 kg (221.7 lb)

Loss of 6KG / 13.227 lb

Doing - F45 five days a week, and Keto. I love Keto because I don't feel hungry, and I drop weight.

For reference my BMI has gone from 31 (obese) to 29 (overweight).

Really enjoying the fitness, and weight loss so far. A bit hard over the weekeends to not get out of Keto.

Update:

I've lost 18lbs since Jan 02 2019.

Not a lot by any means but its only because of some light walking and no meals after 8pm. That's it.

I lost 50 lbs since 27-Jan-2018.

No alcohol.

3-4 days strength and 3-4 days cardio, minimum for an hour

Subbed the beer, wine etc and switched to drinking carbonated water and flavored it with Zing zing bloody mary mix right before dinner.

I am down 12 pounds since my surgery May 14th. I actually went back up to about - 8 pounds, but am now back to. - 12. That is normal, I hear your body could fluctuate, sometimes wildly, for up to a year after colon surgery as my body adjusts to having 20% less intestines for nutrient processing. If I had my wish, I would lose another five and get down close to my college weight, that’s the goal anyway.

A bit of a roller coaster for me. I lost weight earlier in the year and slowly gained it back and now have slowly started losing it again. 300 to 278 to 300 to 274 today at the doctors. Cholesterol, blood pressure, thyroid all looked good.

I hope to keep eating well and shrink down some more.

Good luck everyone!

Tough one for sure. We all know it’s the diet and our bad habits.

A good habit is easy to create, just as easy as breaking an old bad habit

And by ‘easy’ I really mean ‘hard’

It’s totally going to take hard work and commitment, but so goes life my friend! Good luck!
