Dune 2020 the movie

As some know, filming has wrapped for Denis Villeneuve's version of Dune. Villeneuve directed Arrival and Blade Runner 2049. Dune fans are excited. Any Rolex fans also Dune fans?

I am. I've read the first two books several times over the years, never a fan of the later ones. Like most fanboys, I was deeply disappointed in Lynch's version, but liked the Sci-Fi channel mini-series. I also liked both Arrival and BR/49, so I'm looking forward to next year's offering.

Thanks for your comment. I turn 70 this year and have seldom been so excited for a movie. Can't hardly wait.

I love Dune, but the Sting movie and the SciFi (now SyFy) miniseries were just crap.

Also, we've been through half a dozen Iraq wars since the books came out.

Loved the Frank Herbert novels, spectacularly written, enjoyed the follow up books including some of the novel's written by his son.

Frankly, I loved the first movie, and will definitely be looking forward to checking out the new one.

Absolutely one of my favourite parts of the book is the Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear. Words that have served me well since I first read the book.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I also have used the Litany Against Fear in my life. It mattered.

Can't wait.

Denis Villeneuve is the right person to make this.

This is another Thread I missed whilst I had house-guests.
I am a huge fan of the 'Dune' books by Frank Herbert, though mainly the first three.
"Dune" is probably still my favourite book although I first read it 45 years ago.
I loved the Movie by David Lynch although of course it was way too short to adequately carry the story. Needed to be a trilogy.
I also loved the 2000 Miniseries by David Harrison with William Hurt as Duke Leto.
I read the later books by Frank's son Brian and co-author Kevin Anderson and thought they were very good.
I am looking forward to the new movie with great anticipation.

Love Dune. A great story by Herbert. Will be fun to see what this director does with it. RTR
