Watch spotting on TV / Film

Anyone else have an inability to watch TV or film without trying to work out what watches people are wearing?

My latest is Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee which I'm smashing through on Netflix. Jerry Seinfeld appears to have quite a collection - favouring Breitling I think (to my untrained eye at least).

Spotted Triple H of the WWE wearing a Yacht-Master II recently.

Absolutely. Two fun shows to watch-spot are Billions and Succession.

Saw Rob Delaney last week and we were wearing matching 16710 Pepsi's, which was kind of fun.

Yep. My wife hates it, I’m always pausing the TV to see the watch. We recently started watching the latest season of Masterchef and Gordon Ramsey is wearing an IWC and Joe is wearing a stainless Daytona lol.

Just finished up The Loudest Voice and Russel Crowe (as Ailes) sports a nice TT Sub and later a full PM YG Sub. I find myself pausing to get a closer look everytime the watch is in full view.

Seinfeld almost always has a Breitling on. He has an example of almost every model.

Billions is all about AP as was Entourage. There was actually an episode where Ari Gold tells his assistant Llyod to go downstairs and buy him a stainless steel Rolex so he won't look as wealthy when his former mentor comes to visit him. It's funny watching that scene now, because you can't just get a stainless steel Rolex out of an AD display any longer and some of the secondary market prices are approaching the AP he was wearing.

There was also a scene in Succession where one of the characters bought the old man an AP or JLC I think and he gave it to the gardener.

Can't remember the show but a Maggie Smith-like character made the same type of comment. Rolex for new money (with a disdain in her voice) and Patek for old money people like her.

I always look at the watches as well and replay scenes, but still we have to remember that a lot of the watches in movies are fakes and prop watches (due to technical reasons) as we've discussed here before and the particular makes and models may be way off.

But it's fun to look. My wife tolerates it with a roll of the eyes.

Succession: Logan Roy’s Birthday gift, and it was a Patek.

Thanks. I often have to binge watch the previous season again before starting the new one because you forget so much.

Had to do that with Big Little Lies and realized how great is was all over again. So much better than the second season.

LOL! Yep. That’s what I just did, hence my fresh recollection on the Patek.

We decided to watch these now as a binge instead of weekly for the same reason. You even forget stuff from week to week.

So we binge maybe 2-3 a night now to keep the flow going. Could be an age thing.................nah.

You’ll also notice things, comments, etc. that you may have overlooked the first viewing. I know we did.

Pawn Stars always has Rolexes and APs in every episode at the very least. Not just Rick and Corey but usually the experts and some of the customers. It's always fun seeing what they wear

I always do it. Ryan Seacrest on the morning show at ABC has a crazy watch collection. Today he was wearing a gold Daytona
