Until Apple gets their shit together with the Maps app and CarPlay I don't see myself getting another iPhone in the future.

Maps app is a piece of crap and you can't display google maps or waze on carplay..

Does pre-ordering typically start that early? I will be getting this 100%. I haven't gotten a new one since the iPhone 6, where I walked in launch weekend and grabbed one with zero line... I think this one will have a little more demand

Yep! It typically starts at 12:01am PST (3:01am EST) a week before the launch date. My first iPhone was the 3GS. I never stepped into the store for one. I've always preordered for home or office delivery. Easy and very convenient for me.

Yep I'll set my alarm, get up just before 3:00am EST and hopefully get my preorder in quickly, then back to bed.

Tip: preordering/checking out usually goes smoother on the iOS Apple Store app vs. browser.

I've done the crazy 3 am pre order a few times now. The last few years I have gone into work the next morning and the phone I ordered was still readily available for the same shipping time.

I get caught up in the hype, but I probably won't be doing the crazy middle of the night ordering any more.

Plus, since I got the 7 last year, I'm really not in the market this go around.

I think Forbes stated Apple can only supply 2- to 4M domestic units for most of '17 and early '18 due to the shortage of OLED screens. And the bulk of their revenue and sales will go to the 7S/7S Plus. I doubt I'll be on any list to get the 8.

Rumors fof next year have already started. Next year in 2018, Apple is rumored to release two OLED iPhones --- 1) 5.85 inch and 2) 6.46 inch.
