OEM leather straps and water resistance

Recently picked up my first PAM, so I am new to strap life.

The watch itself is water resistant, but what about OEM leather straps which came with the watch? Can I swim with them on or should I consider sourcing OEM rubber for water activities?

TIA

Definitely don't swim in the leather strap, that'll ruin it. As you say your best bet is to get an oem/aftermarket rubber. It's a joy to change straps over with the new quick change system.

Thanks for chiming in. So that means the leather strap should not even see any type of water, correct? Anything besides normal wear/sweat etc?

Some of the leather straps that they make were supposed to be water resistant. Those are mainly found for the submersible line if I am not mistaken.

I have actually picked up some rubber straps from this company on the cheap. They are a little thinner than OEM but at least they come in other colors and work perfect for the summer.

Any recommendations where to buy OEM straps, apart from OP?

So what does that mean? Not water resistant?

Maybe see if the dealer can do an exchange for an unused leather strap for the rubber one

Actually don't exchange the straps. I saw the original post you made with the incoming and that black strap you got is discontinued and hard to find... I'd buy one of those $35 straps that was linked above or buy an OEM one

Sounds like I do need to get my hands on a OEM rubber strap. Yes, the 590 does come with "supposedly" a discontinued/limited edition strap, I have not even had a chance to swap out the other strap which came with the watch.
