Boutique only model SBGJ235..... convince me either way!
I’m wanting to get the “blue peacock” SBGJ235 as the original one is simply at a ridiculous price now and not as easy to get.
I would buy it sight unseen since I don’t have a GS boutique near me and traveling isn’t an option now 1- what’s people’s take on that model? Especially those who own it 2- What does being a “boutique only” model do to its future value/collectibility? I like the watch, don’t plan to sell it but doesn’t hurt to know if boutique models hold value 3- should I expect any discount at the boutique? An extra strap? Anything? 4- finally, this would be my first hi-beat (which is why I want it) how does it compare to SBGJ217 Finally my wrist is 7.6”, so not sure if one wear bigger than the other. I plan to wear either on a strap Thank you!

I think the watch will look great on your wrist. It fit fine on my 6.6” wrist but I personally felt that its 14mm thickness was a bit for me. If you are fine with its thickness, you won’t be disappointed. The Mt. Iwate dial is simply stunning Instagram @nywatchcollector |

The SBGJ235 has been on my radar for quite some time now, it's absolutely beautiful.
Since you have a good sized wrist , maybe check the new (more sporty) high beat SBGJ237. The saphire bezel lloks amazing. |

It’s indeed beautiful but I have the Rolex ceramic Pepsi, 16710 coke, the Batman and the black Gmt ceramic and worry this one would be somewhat redundant!
The dial on the 235 is really appealing to me!

Blue Iwate is truly beautiful in person IMO...very hard watch to photograph. Ben Lee's wrist shots are pretty good though I gotta say.

I didn’t know this watch existed so it’s complicated my decision on the SBGK005. For those familiar with both watches, which would you recommend for a first time GS buyer? |

1. N/A
2. Not much because although it’s limited, demand isn’t all that high, so that nullifies the exclusivity factor from valuation. If value retention is an attribute you are focusing on, then I would pass on this reference...and any GS opportunities offered at retail. 3. There will be no discount at the factory GS boutique. They will provide you with the opportunity to view the watch in person, try it on and sell it to you at msrp plus tax. They don’t have any straps to give away. They are all on backorder and are $$$ anyway, so they won’t be swag. You might get a magazine or something like that. 4. I do not know. 5...I would be cautious about straps as alotta GS have fun killing 19mm lugs. Also the lugs are reall designed for thick bracelet end links, so if you put a thinner, flat, leather strap on it, it will look odd as the lugs visually dominate the strap. Padded straps...or thicker straps are better. |
